The 2006 Asian Men's Handball Championship was the twelfth Asian Championship and was held in Bangkok, Thailand from 12 to 21 February 2006. It acted as the Asian qualifying tournament for the 2007 World Men's Handball Championship in Germany.
South Korea competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China. This is a list of all of the South Korean athletes who qualified for the Olympics and their results. South Korea sent a delegation of 267 athletes to these games.
The Russian Federation competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics, held in Beijing, China, represented by the Russian Olympic Committee. Russia competed in all sports except baseball, field hockey, football, softball, and taekwondo. They ranked third in the medal table by golds (24) and overall (60). The 1987 Asian Men's Handball Championship was the fourth Asian Championship, which was taking place from 20 to 29 August 1987 in Amman, Jordan. The competition is played along with first Women's Championship.
The 2012 EHF European Men's Handball Championship was the tenth edition of the men's continental handball tournament, which was held in Serbia between 15 and 29 January 2012. Sixteen teams qualified for the event, including host nation Serbia, defending champion France and fourteen national teams through the qualifying tournament. The teams were split into four groups of 4, with the top 3 teams of each group advancing to the main round, carrying the points won against other qualified opponents. Going to the main round with no points, Denmark ended up winning the championship after defeating Serbia in the final with a scoreline of 21–19.

The 2012 African Men's Handball Championship was the 20th edition of the African Men's Handball Championship, organized by the African Handball Confederation, which acted as the qualification process for the 2013 World Men's Handball Championship. It was the 20th edition of the tournament and was held in Rabat and Salé, Morocco between 11 and 20 January 2012. The winner qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics.
The European qualification for the 2013 World Men's Handball Championship, in Spain, was played over two rounds. The 2013 hosts Spain, the 2011 holders France and the 3 best teams from the 2012 European Men's Handball Championship, Denmark, Serbia and Croatia were qualified automatically for the World Championship. In the first round of qualification, 21 teams who were not participating at the European Championship were split into seven groups. The group winners and the remaining 11 teams from the European Championship played a playoff afterwards to determine the other nine qualifiers.

The 2014 Asian Men's Handball Championship was the 16th edition of the Asian Men's Handball Championship, held in Isa Town and Manama, Bahrain, from 25 January to 6 February 2014. It acted as the Asian qualifying tournament for the 2015 World Men's Handball Championship in Qatar.
The 2016 Asian Men's Junior Handball Championship is the 15th edition of the Asian Men's Junior Handball Championship held from 22 July to 1 August 2016 at Amman, Jordan under the aegis of Asian Handball Federation. It also acts as the qualification tournament for the 2017 Men's Junior World Handball Championship.
The 2018 Asian Men's Youth Handball Championship was the 8th edition of the championship held from 16 to 26 September 2018 at Amman (Jordan) under the aegis of Asian Handball Federation. It was the third time in history that championship was organised in Jordan by the Jordan Handball Federation. The top four teams qualified for the 2019 Men's Youth World Handball Championship to be held in Republic of Macedonia.
The men's qualification for the Olympic handball tournament will occur between January 2023 and March 2024, assigning quota places to the twelve squads for the Games: the hosts, the world champion, four continental events winners, and six teams from the IHF World Olympic qualifying tournaments, respectively.
