The alternate list could contain at most three outfielders, as at least one slot was reserved for a goalkeeper. In the event of serious injury during the tournament, an injured player could be replaced by one of the players in the alternate list. Only players in these squads were eligible to take part in the tournament.

The 2012 UEFA European Under-17 Football Championship is an international under-17 age group football tournament to be held in Slovenia from 4 May until 16 May 2012. The eight national teams involved in the tournament are required to register a squad of 18 players; only players in these squads are eligible to take part in the tournament.

The 2012 AFC U-19 Championship was an international under-19 age group football tournament held in United Arab Emirates from 3 – 17 November 2012. The sixteen national teams involved in the tournament were required to register a squad of maximum 23 players; only players in these squads were eligible to take part in the tournament.
