The 2012 Cross River State gubernatorial election occurred in Nigeria on February 25, 2012. The PDP nominee Liyel Imoke won the election, defeating Usani Uguru Usani of the ACN. [1] [2] [3] [4]

The PDP primary election was held on January 23, 2012. Liyel Imoke emerged PDP flag bearer after polling 737 votes and defeating his closest rival, former Nigerian Ambassador to Mali and former PDP state chairman, Soni Abang who scored 3. ACN primary

The ACN primary election was held on February 6, 2012. Usani Uguru Usani emerged the party's flag bearer after defeating his closest rival, Mike Ogar. [14] [15] [16]

The 2023 Nigerian gubernatorial elections will be held for state governors in 31 out of 36 Nigerian states. All but three elections will be held on 11 March—concurrent with elections to every state house of assembly, two weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections—while the Imo State, Kogi State, and Bayelsa State elections will be held on 11 November. The last regular gubernatorial elections for all states were in 2019. All states have a two term limit for Governors which makes 18 incumbent governors ineligible for re-election.

The 2023 Cross River State gubernatorial election will take place on 11 March 2023, to elect the Governor of Cross River State, concurrent with elections to the Cross River State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election will be held two weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent APC Governor Benedict Ayade is term-limited and cannot seek re-election to a third term.
