The 2012 Lumberjacks were led by fifth-year head coach Rob Smith. They played home games at the Redwood Bowl in Arcata, California. Humboldt State finished the season with a record of seven wins and four losses (7–4, 6–4 GNAC). The Lumberjacks outscored their opponents 341–270 for the 2012 season.

Cal Poly Humboldt Lumberjacks

The Cal Poly Humboldt Lumberjacks are the 11 varsity athletic teams that represent California State Polytechnic University, Humboldt, located in Arcata, California, in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports. The Lumberjacks compete as an associate member of the California Collegiate Athletic Association for all sports except women's rowing, which competes in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.

The 2000 Humboldt State Lumberjacks football team represented Humboldt State University during the 2000 NAIA football season. Humboldt State competed in the NAIA Columbia Football Association. The conference folded after the 2000 season. The four U.S.-based members of the CFA would return to the NCAA and become the charter members of the NCAA Division II Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) in 2001. Simon Fraser stayed in the NAIA and played as an independent in 2001.

The 2001 Humboldt State Lumberjacks football team represented Humboldt State University during the 2001 NCAA Division II football season. Humboldt State moved back to the NCAA from the NAIA in 2001, and competed as a charter member of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC). They had been a member of the NAIA Columbia Football Association (CFA) from 1997 to 2000. The CFA folded after the 2000 season.

The Lumberjacks were led by first-year head coach Damaro Wheeler and played their home games at the Redwood Bowl. The finished the season with a record of 2–8 overall and 2–6 in GNAC play to place fourth. This was final season for the Humboldt State football program, as the school has discontinue the sport at the conclusion of the 2018 season.
