The 2012 Johnstown Generals season was the second season for the Ultimate Indoor Football League (UIFL) franchise.

Contents

On May 15, 2012, the Generals were suspended by the league due to a lack of funds. [1] The Generals were able to finish the season with a 2–6 record, and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

The Chiefs lasted for 22 years in Johnstown, and was the last of the founding ECHL teams playing under its original name and in its original city. The Chiefs relocated to Greenville, South Carolina, following the completion of the 2010 season.

Galen Russell Head was a Canadian professional ice hockey player who spent the majority of his career, which lasted from 1967 to 1976, with the Johnstown Jets of the Eastern Hockey League and North American Hockey League. Head played one game in the NHL with the Detroit Red Wings during the 1967-68 NHL season and wore #15.

The Saginaw Sting was a professional Indoor Football team based in Saginaw, Michigan. The team was most recently a member of American Indoor Football (AIF). They suspended operations for the 2010 season before becoming an inaugural member of the Ultimate Indoor Football League. The Johnstown Red Wings were a professional ice hockey team based in Johnstown, Pennsylvania They were founded as a member of the Eastern Hockey League in the 1979-80 season. The Red Wings were used as an affiliate to the Adirondack Red Wings of the AHL. At the time, Adirondack was the primary affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings.

The 2011 Huntington Hammer season was the first season for the Ultimate Indoor Football League (UIFL) franchise. The Hammer were able to finish the season with a 7–7 record. In the playoffs, they were defeated by the Eastern Kentucky Drillers.

The 2013 Continental Indoor Football League season will be the Continental Indoor Football League's eighth overall season. The regular season will start on Friday February 8, with the Marion Blue Racers visiting the Saginaw Sting at the Dow Event Center, and will end with the 2013 CIFL Championship Game, the league's championship game being held on, or around, May 18. The league approved the expansion of the playoff format from four teams to six teams.
