The Iranian Basketball Super League (IBSL) is a professional men's basketball league in Iran. It was founded in 1998. The current champions is Shahrdari Gorgan. The league follows the promotion and relegation system in which the worst two teams are relegated to 1st Division.
Petrochimi Bandar Imam Basketball Club, also known as shortly Petrochimi, is an Iranian professional basketball club based in Mahshahr, Iran. They compete in the Iranian Basketball Super League. In 2012 they became the first club in Iran to establish a basketball youth academy.
Hamed Afagh Eslamieh is a professional Iranian basketball player who plays for Shahrdari Arak of the Iranian Super League and also for the Iranian national basketball team. He is 6 feet 2 inches (1.88 m) in height.
Javad Davari is president of Islamic Republic of Iran Basketball Federation from February 2022. He was former Iranian professional basketball player, played as a point guard for Foolad Mahan in the Iranian Basketball Super League. He is also a member of the Iranian national basketball team and competed at the 2008 Olympic Basketball Tournament. Davari previously played for Zob Ahan before joining Petrochimi.

Persepolis were the defending champion but were eliminated by Esteghlal in the quarter-finals; The fourth consecutive wins for Esteghlal against Persepolis in official matches. The competition began on September 12, 2011 and was end on March 15, 2012. Esteghlal beat Shahin Bushehr 4–1 on penalties and was qualified for the group stage of the 2013 AFC Champions League.

The 2014–15 Azadegan League was the 24th season of the Azadegan League and 14th as the second highest division since its establishment in 1991. The season featured 16 teams from the 2013–14 Azadegan League, three new teams relegated from the 2013–14 Persian Gulf Cup: Fajr Sepasi, Damash and Mes Kerman and four new teams promoted from the 2013–14 2nd Division: Shahrdari Ardabil and Etka Gorgan both as champions and Foolad Novin and Shahrdari Tabriz. Tarbiat Yazd replaced Yazd Louleh. The league started on 4 October 2014 and ended on 22 April 2015. Foolad Novin won the Azadegan League title for the first time in their history. Siah Jamegan and Esteghlal Ahvaz promoted to the Persian Gulf Pro League.

The 2016–17 Hazfi Cup was the 30th season of the Iranian football knockout competition. Zob Ahan Isfahan, the defending champions, were eliminated by Tractor Sazi in the semi-final in extra time. The competition started on 12 September 2016, and the final was played on 11 May 2017. Naft Tehran defeated Tractor Sazi at the final and earned their first title.
