Liga Española de Baloncesto Aficionado (EBA), commonly known as Liga EBA, is a Spanish basketball championship that is the fourth tier level in the Spanish basketball league system, after the Liga ACB, LEB Oro, and LEB Plata. It is administered by the FEB. It was previously the Spanish second tier level competition from 1994 to 1996, the third tier level from 1996 to 2000, and the fifth tier level, from 2007 to 2009.
The LEB Plata is the third basketball division of the Spanish basketball league system, the second basketball division organized by the Spanish Basketball Federation. Each year, the winner and the runner-up of the league, are promoted to LEB Oro. The four lowest-placed teams are relegated to Liga EBA.
Teams are divided in five groups by geographical criteria. Group A is also divided in two:
Cantabria is an autonomous community in northern Spain with Santander as its capital city. It is recognized as a historic community and is bordered on the east by the Basque Autonomous Community, on the south by Castile and León, on the west by the Principality of Asturias, and on the north by the Cantabrian Sea.
The Basque Country, officially the Basque Autonomous Community is an autonomous community in northern Spain. It includes the Basque provinces of Álava, Biscay, and Gipuzkoa.
La Rioja is an autonomous community and a province in Spain, located in the north of the Iberian Peninsula. Its capital is Logroño. Other cities and towns in the province include Calahorra, Arnedo, Alfaro, Haro, Santo Domingo de la Calzada, and Nájera. It has an estimated population of 315,675 inhabitants, making it the least populated region of Spain.
The three best teams of each group plus a fourth qualified decided with special criteria will play a double leg play-off. From these 16 teams, only four will be promoted to LEB Plata.
The Liga Española de Baloncesto, also known as LEB Oro, is the second basketball division of the Spanish basketball league system. It is run by the FEB. The Liga Española de Baloncesto is divided into two categories. The LEB league was founded in 1996 and is played under FIBA rules. It was renamed LEB Oro in 2007.
The final promotion playoffs will be played with Final Four formats where the first qualified of each group will host one of the stages.
