ESS was founded on 11 May 1925 after a general meeting under the chairmanship of Chedly Boujemla, Ali Laârbi and Ahmed Zaklaoui, at the headquarters of the Association of the ancient French-Arab School in Laroussi Zarouk Street, in the heart of the old town of Sousse. The aim of the meeting was to establish a sports education society. The Tunisian flag was chosen in the selection of the colors of the team. The red shirt with the star and the white shorts. The French colonial authorities prevented the use of these colors, but with the insistence of the team leaders they prevailed and in the latter they played this kit. In English the name means SportStar of the Sahel (coast)

Hammadi Agrebi Stadium, opened as Stade 7 November, is a multi-purpose stadium in Radès, Tunis, Tunisia about 10 kilometers south-east of downtown Tunis, in the center of the Olympic City. It is currently used mostly for football matches and it also has facilities for athletics. The stadium has a capacity of up to 60,000 spectators and was built in 2001 for the 2001 Mediterranean Games. The stadium is considered to be one of the best stadiums in Africa.

The 2014 African Volleyball Clubs Champions Championship was the 33rd staging of African's premier club volleyball competition held in Sousse, Tunisia over 20–29 March. The champions of the tournament will qualify for 2014 FIVB Volleyball Club World Championship in Belo Horizonte, Brazil as Africa's representative.

The 2013–14 Tunisian Cup was the 82nd season of the football cup competition of Tunisia. The competition was organized by the Fédération Tunisienne de Football (FTF) and open to all clubs in Tunisia.
The winner of Tunisian Cup qualifies to 2015 CAF Confederation Cup. But since Etoile du Sahel has already qualified for this competition after finishing in the 3rd position in Ligue 1, and CS Sfaxien having already qualified for the 2015 CAF Champions League after finishing 2nd, the qualification for the 2015 CAF Confederation Cup went to the club that finished 4th in Ligue 1, Club Africain.
