Qualification for the 2013 Canadian Direct Insurance BC Men's Curling Championship consisted of both direct and indirect qualification. The defending champion and the highest-ranked team on the Canadian Team Ranking System qualified directly. Fourteen more teams qualified through playdown events and qualification events.

The 2012 British Columbia Scotties Tournament of Hearts presented by Best Western, British Columbia's women's provincial curling championship, was held from January 23 to 29 at the North Shore Winter Club in North Vancouver, British Columbia. The winning team of Kelly Scott represented British Columbia at the 2012 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Red Deer, Alberta where they finished round robin with an 8-3 record, which was enough to finish 2nd place and clinch a spot in the playoffs. They would win the 1-2 game advance to the final, where they would lose to Alberta.

The 2012 Alberta Scotties Tournament of Hearts, Alberta's women's provincial curling championship, was held from January 25 to 29 at the Leduc Curling Club in Leduc, Alberta. The winning team of Heather Nedohin, represented Alberta at the 2012 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Red Deer, Alberta, where they finished round robin with a 7-4 record, which was enough to finish 4th place and clinch a spot in the playoffs. The team would go on to win both the 3-4 game and the semi-final. They would face British Columbia in the final, where for the first time in fourteen years, Alberta would win the Scotties.

The 2013 British Columbia Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the women's provincial curling championship for British Columbia, was held from January 14 to 20 at the Cloverdale Curling Club in Cloverdale, British Columbia. The winning team represented British Columbia at the 2013 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Kingston, Ontario.

The 2013 Alberta Scotties Tournament of Hearts, Alberta's women's provincial curling championship, was held from January 23 to 27 at the Lethbridge Curling Club in Lethbridge, Alberta. The winning Kristie Moore rink from Grande Prairie went on to represent Alberta at the 2013 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Kingston, Ontario.

The Pacific International Cup (PIC) is an international bonspiel held annually in April at the Richmond Curling Club in Richmond, British Columbia. The objective of the PIC is to promote and develop curling at a grass-roots level both in British Columbia and internationally by providing club teams an opportunity to play in a premier international tournament. Over the years teams from 23 different countries and US states have participated in the bonspiel, including from China, Chinese Taipei, South Korea, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, and Singapore.

The 2023 BC Men's Curling Championship, the provincial men's curling championship for British Columbia, was held from January 11 to 15 at the Chilliwack Curling Club in Chilliwack, British Columbia. The event was held in conjunction with the 2023 British Columbia Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the provincial women's curling championship.
