The 2013 Golden Icons Academy Movie Awards was the second edition of the ceremony to reward excellence in African cinema. It was hosted by Ramsey Nouah. [1] [2] [3]
Pascal Atuma is a Canadian-Nigerian Actor, Screenwriter, Film Producer, Film Director, and CEO/Chairman of TABIC Record Label.. Pascal was born in Ikwuano Umuahia, Abia State, Nigeria. He attended Government College, Umuahia, and attended the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. He also attended KD Conservatory-College of Film & Dramatic Arts in Dallas, Texas, USA. He was also awarded a Certificate in Entrepreneurship Specialization from the University of Pennsylvania, in the United States.
Chioma Chukwuka is a Nigerian actress, director and movie producer. In 2007, she won the Africa Movie Academy Award for "Best Actress in a leading role" for her performance in the movie "Sins of the flesh", and the Afro Hollywood award for best actress in a lead role in 2010.

Phone Swap is a 2012 Nigerian romance comedy-drama film written by Kemi Adesoye, directed and produced by Kunle Afolayan. It stars Nse Ikpe Etim, Wale Ojo, Joke Silva, Chika Okpala, Lydia Forson and Afeez Oyetoro. The film was conceived after a brief from an advertising agency to create a movie that would cut across ages 15 to 45.
October 1 (2014) is a Nigerian dark psychological thriller film written by Tunde Babalola, and produced and directed by Kunle Afolayan. It stars Sadiq Daba, Kayode Olaiya, David Bailie, Kehinde Bankole, Kanayo O. Kanayo, Fabian Adeoye Lojede, Nick Rhys, Kunle Afolayan, Femi Adebayo, Bimbo Manuel, Ibrahim Chatta, and introduces Demola Adedoyin; it also features a special appearance by Deola Sagoe. The film is set in the last months of Colonial Nigeria in 1960. It recounts the story of Danladi Waziri, a police officer from Northern Nigeria who is posted to a remote town of Akote in Western Nigeria to investigate the frequent female murders in the community. He is supposed to solve the mystery before the Nigerian flag is raised on October 1, 1960, Nigeria's Independence Day.
Hoodrush is a 2012 Nigerian musical thriller film written, produced, and directed by Dimeji Ajibola, and starring OC Ukeje, Bimbo Akintola, and Gabriel Afolayan. It received two nominations at the 9th Africa Movie Academy Awards, Gabriel Afolayan eventually won the award for the category Best Actor In A Supporting Role.
Torn is a 2013 Nigerian psychological thriller film directed by Moses Inwang and starring Joseph Benjamin, Ireti Doyle and Monalisa Chinda. It received five nominations at the 2013 Best of Nollywood Awards for categories Director of the Year, Movie of the Year, Best Edited Movie, Best Screenplay, and Best Actress in a Leading Role, but did not win any awards.
Weekend Getaway is a 2012 Nigerian romantic drama film directed by Desmond Elliot and starring Genevieve Nnaji, Ramsey Nouah, Monalisa Chinda, Ini Edo, Uti Nwachukwu, Alexx Ekubo, Bryan Okwara, Beverly Naya and Uru Eke. It received 11 nominations and eventually won 4 awards at the 2013 Nollywood & African Film Critics Awards (NAFCA). It also received 2 nominations at the 2013 Best of Nollywood Awards with Alexx Ekubo eventually winning the award for Best Actor in a supporting role. The film was a box-office success in Nigerian cinemas generally because of its star-studded cast.
Beverly Naya is a British-born Nigerian actress. Beverly won Most Promising Talent at the 2010 Best of Nollywood Awards. She also won the award for Fast Rising Actress at the 2011 City People Entertainment Awards.
Alexx Ekubo is a Nigerian actor and model. He was first runner up at the 2010 Mr Nigeria contest. He won the Best Actor in a Supporting Role award at the 2013 Best of Nollywood Awards for his role in the Weekend Getaway.
The 2014 Nollywood Movies Awards was held on October 18, 2014 at Intercontinental Hotel, Lagos.
The 2013 Ghana Movie Awards was held at the Accra International Conference Center on 30 December 2013. A Northern Affair and Contract were the top winners for the night.

Moses Inwang is a Nigerian film director, producer, editor and screenwriter best known for classic films in the Nollywood mainstream that speak to societal ills and nagging live issues rarely documented in Nigerian movies. Inwang's first outstanding recognition came 2012 when he directed the psychological thriller Torn, also produced by him, and released in cinemas nationwide in 2013. With multiple nominations, award and recognition bagged from that movie, he went on to direct and produce other hits like Damage, Cold Feet, Stalker, Last 3 digits, Alter Ego, Crazy People, American Driver, Unroyal and lastly Merry Men 2; Ayo Makun(AY)’s blockbuster movie, which emerged the 2nd highest-grossing movie of 2019 in Nigeria with a sum of 240 million.

Memry Savanhu is a Zimbabwe-born Nollywood actress, filmmaker and entrepreneur, permanently resident in Lagos, Nigeria after a relocation from London, UK. The 2019 Best of Nollywood Awards was the 11th edition of the ceremony and took place in the Coronation Hall of the Kano State Government in Kano State on 14 December 2019. Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje was the chief host of the event and the event was co-hosted by actress, Maryam Booth and Gbenga Adeyinka.
