The 2013 Little League Softball World Series was held in Portland, Oregon from August 8 to August 14, 2013. Six teams from the United States and four from throughout the world competed for the Little League Softball World Champions.

Little League Baseball and Softball is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania,, that organizes local youth baseball and softball leagues throughout the United States and the rest of the world.
The Little League World Series is an annual baseball tournament for children aged 10 to 12 years old, held in the Eastern United States. Originally called the National Little League Tournament, it was later renamed for the World Series in Major League Baseball. The Series was first held in 1947 and is held every August in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania; while the postal address of the organization is in Williamsport, the Series itself is played at Howard J. Lamade Stadium and Volunteer Stadium at the Little League headquarters complex in South Williamsport.
The Junior League Softball World Series is a softball tournament for girls aged between 12 and 14. The tournament is administered by Little League Baseball, Inc. and is held annually in the Seattle suburb of Kirkland, Washington.
The Northwest Region is one of ten United States regions that currently send teams to the Little League World Series, the largest youth baseball competition in the world. The region's participation in the LLWS dates back to 1957, when it was known as the West Region. However, when the LLWS was expanded in 2001 from eight teams to 16 teams, the Western Region was split into the Northwest and West Regions.

Victoria Gran Hayward is a Canadian Olympic athlete, a professional softball player and the current head coach for the University of Nevada softball program. She played college softball at the University of Washington from 2011 to 2014, professional softball with the National Pro Fastpitch league from 2015 to 2019 and currently competes in the Athletes Unlimited softball league. She is an outfielder who bats and throws left-handed. She has played for the Canadian Senior Women's softball team since June 2009 and was team captain when Canada won the bronze medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics.
The Latin America Region has competed in the Little League World Series since its creation in 1958. Until 2001, the Latin America Region included Mexico and the Caribbean. In 2001 – when the Little League World Series expanded to sixteen teams – Mexico and the Caribbean were given their own regions. The region is open to all countries on the Latin American mainland, but is typically contested by the teams from Panama and Venezuela. Since the 2001 split, the region has been represented by either Venezuela or Panama at the Little League World Series, as of 2019.
The Caribbean Region is a region that competes in the Little League World Series. The Caribbean region was first given an automatic berth in 2001. Prior to 2001, Caribbean teams competed for a berth in the LLWS in the Latin American region.
The 2011 Little League World Series took place in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania, between August 18 and 28. Eight teams from the United States and eight from elsewhere in the world competed in the 65th edition of the Little League World Series. Ocean View Little League of Huntington Beach, California, defeated Hamamatsu Minami Little League of Hamamatsu City, Japan, in the championship game. Nick Pratto hit an RBI single to clinch the title for Ocean View.
The Babe Ruth League is an international youth baseball and softball league based in Hamilton, New Jersey, US named after George Herman "Babe" Ruth (1895–1948), world famous American professional baseball player from 1914 to 1933. He played beginning at age 19 in his hometown of Baltimore in 1914 at the minor league level of the International League with the legendary Baltimore Orioles, then traded up to the major leagues as first a pitcher to the Boston Red Sox in the American League. Then he went on to his greatest career during the 1920s and 30s as an outfielder / slugger with the previously lack-luster New York Yankees becoming the nicknamed "Sultan of Swat" and transforming them with additional talented players into the feared "Bronx Bombers" for their first of several decades-long dynasties. In his later declining years, he served briefly as player / manager with the old Boston Braves of the competing National League.

Little League expanded the field of World Series participants to 12 in 2022, adding 2 regions in the United States. Before being held in Greenville, it was held outside of Portland, Oregon at Alpenrose Stadium.

The 2000 Little League Softball World Series was held in Portland, Oregon from August 13 to August 19, 2000. Four teams from the United States and four from throughout the world competed for the Little League Softball World Championship.
The 2015 Little League Softball World Series was held in Portland, Oregon from August 13 to August 19, 2015. Six teams from the United States and four from throughout the world competed for the Little League Softball World Champions. A controversy arose when the Snohomish, Washington team was accused of "throwing" a game so as not to have to face the Central Team from Slater/Polk City, IA. As a result, the favored Iowa team was forced to use their ace pitcher, Mikayla Houge, in a tie-breaker game, where Iowa prevailed. Unfortunately, Mikayla was then unable to pitch in the semi-finals. Iowa lost that semi-finals game, effectively ending their chance at advancing to the Finals and winning the World Series. In a bit of irony, the Southeast team that advanced due to the thrown game ended up winning the championship.
