The 2013–14 LEB Oro season was the 18th season of the Liga Española de Baloncesto, a Spanish basketball league. It was named Adecco Oro as its sponsored identity. The champion of the regular season, River Andorra MoraBanc was promoted to Liga ACB. The Liga Española de Baloncesto, also known as LEB Oro, is the second basketball division of the Spanish basketball league system. It is run by the FEB. The Liga Española de Baloncesto is divided into two categories. The LEB league was founded in 1996 and is played under FIBA rules. It was renamed LEB Oro in 2007.
Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, most commonly of five players each, opposing one another on a rectangular court, compete with the primary objective of shooting a basketball through the defender's hoop while preventing the opposing team from shooting through their own hoop. A field goal is worth two points, unless made from behind the three-point line, when it is worth three. After a foul, timed play stops and the player fouled or designated to shoot a technical foul is given one or more one-point free throws. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins, but if regulation play expires with the score tied, an additional period of play (overtime) is mandated.
Bàsquet Club Andorra S.A., also known as MoraBanc Andorra for sponsorship reasons, is a professional basketball team that is based in Andorra la Vella, Andorra. Though based in Andorra, the club plays in the Spanish basketball league system. The team plays in the Liga ACB with home games played at the Poliesportiu d'Andorra.
The regular season was played by round-robin system.
A round-robin tournament is a competition in which each contestant meets all other contestants in turn. A round-robin contrasts with an elimination tournament, in which participants are eliminated after a certain number of losses.
After the first leg of the season, the two top qualified teams played the Copa Príncipe de Asturias and the leader will be the host team.
At the final of the season:
The Liga ACB, known as Liga Endesa for sponsorship reasons, is the top professional basketball division of the Spanish basketball league system. Administrated by the Asociación de Clubes de Baloncesto (ACB), Liga ACB is contested by 18 teams, with the two lowest-placed teams relegated to the LEB Oro and replaced by the top team in that division plus the winner of the playoffs.
On November 7, after five games played, the Spanish Basketball Federation, in agreement with the clubs of the league, decided to change the competition format: [1]
The Spanish Basketball Federation is the governing body of basketball in Spain. It is based in Madrid.
Oviedo Club Baloncesto, also known as Liberbank Oviedo Baloncesto for sponsorship reasons, is a professional basketball team based in Oviedo, Asturias, that plays in the Spanish LEB Oro league.
