The 2013–14 New Zealand V8 season was the fifteenth season of the series, under the NZV8 guise. The season began at the Thunder in the Park event at Pukekohe Park Raceway on 16 November 2013 and finished at the Pukekohe Park Raceway ITM Auckland 400 V8 Supercars event on 27 April after six championship meetings. Jason Bargwanna was the reigning TLX champion, and whilst AJ Lauder won the TL Championship, graduated into the TLX class to battle for the title. The TLX Championship eventually was won by Nick Ross and the TL Championship was won by Ian Booth.

MotorSport New Zealand, New Zealand's national governing and sanctioning body for motorsport, awarded the category "New Zealand Touring Car Championship" title status in 1996. Bargwanna was the Driving Standards Observer for the Supercars Championship from 2014 until 2016.

Jason John Richards was a New Zealand motor racing driver. Richards career highlights include finishing second three times in V8 Supercar's most famous race, the Bathurst 1000. Richards died at the age of 35, just over a year after being diagnosed with cancer.

Garry Rogers Motorsport is an Australian motor racing team. It is owned by retired racing driver Garry Rogers who began the team to further his own racing efforts. Based in Melbourne, originally out of a Nissan dealership owned by Rogers, the team has competed in a variety of touring car series in Australia ranging from relatively modest Nissan production cars to Chevrolet NASCAR race cars to building the GT specification Holden Monaro 427C. The team won the Bathurst 1000 in 2000 and also won both of the Bathurst 24 Hour races which were held in 2002 and 2003. The 2003 V8 Supercar Championship Series was a motor racing series for V8 Supercars. The series, which was the fifth V8 Supercar Championship Series, began on 22 March 2003 in Adelaide and ended on 30 November at Eastern Creek Raceway after 13 rounds. It ended with the awarding of the 44th Australian Touring Car Championship title by the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport to Tasmanian driver Marcos Ambrose. The 2010 V8 Supercar Championship Series was an FIA sanctioned international motor racing series for V8 Supercars. It was the twelfth V8 Supercar Championship Series and the fourteenth series in which V8 Supercars have contested the premier Australian touring car title. The championship began on 19 February in the Middle East at Abu Dhabi's Yas Marina Circuit and concluded on 5 December at the Homebush Street Circuit. These events were held in all states of Australia and in the Northern Territory as well as in the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and New Zealand. The 51st Australian Touring Car Championship title was awarded to the winner of the Drivers Championship by the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport.

The 2013 International V8 Supercars Championship was a Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile-sanctioned international motor racing series for V8 Supercars that was based in Australia. It was the fifteenth running of the V8 Supercar Championship Series and the seventeenth series in which V8 Supercars contested the premier Australian touring car title. The championship was contested over thirty-six races, starting with the Clipsal 500 Adelaide on 2 March 2013, and finishing with the Sydney Telstra 500 V8 Supercars on 8 December. The series' calendar also expanded, travelling to the United States for the first time for a race at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.

The Auckland SuperSprint was an annual motor racing event for Supercars, held at Pukekohe Park Raceway in Pukekohe, New Zealand. The event was a regular part of the Supercars Championship—and its previous incarnations, the Shell Championship Series and V8 Supercars Championship—since 2001.

Nick Ross was the reigning TLX champion, and whilst James McLaughlin won the TL Championship, graduated into the TLX class to battle for the title. The TLX Championship eventually was won by Jason Bargwanna and the TL Championship was won by Kevin Williams.
