2014 Big Ten men's ice hockey tournament

The 2014 Big Ten Conference Men's Ice Hockey Tournament was the first tournament in conference history, and was played between March 20 and March 22, 2014 at the Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, Minnesota. [1] The winner of the tournament was the Wisconsin Badgers, who earned the Big Ten's automatic bid to the 2014 NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Tournament.

Format

All six Big Ten teams participated in the tournament, which was a single-elimination format. Teams were seeded No. 1 through No. 6 according to the final regular season conference standings. In the quarterfinals on Thursday, No. 3 played No. 6 and No. 4 played No. 5. On Friday, No. 2 played the winner of the first game and No. 1 played the winner of the second game (the teams were not reseeded). The two semifinal winners played each other on Saturday in the final. [2]

The 2018 Big Ten Conference Men's Ice Hockey Tournament was the fifth tournament in conference history. It was played between March 2 and March 17, 2018, on campus locations. The winner of the tournament was the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, who earned the Big Ten's automatic bid to the 2018 NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Tournament.

The 1976–77 Wisconsin Badgers men's ice hockey team represented the University of Wisconsin–Madison in college ice hockey. In its tenth year under head coach Bob Johnson, the team compiled a 37–7–1 record and outscored all opponents 264 to 161. The Badgers received the WCHA's automatic bid to the 1977 NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Tournament by winning the 1977 WCHA Men's Ice Hockey Tournament, the only singular WCHA tournament champion over a 16-year period. The 2021–22 Minnesota Golden Gophers men's ice hockey season was the 101st season of play for the program. They represented the University of Minnesota in the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's ice hockey season. This season marked the 32nd season in the Big Ten Conference. They were coached by Bob Motzko, in his fourth season, and played their home games at 3M Arena at Mariucci.
