The 2014 Roller Derby World Cup is an international women's roller derby tournament organized by Blood & Thunder magazine. Teams of amateur skaters from six continents compete for their respective nations.
The 2014 Roller Derby World Cup is the second held, taking place from December 4 through 7, 2014, at Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas, Texas, United States. Team USA defeated Team England in the final, [1] repeating their victory from the 2011 Roller Derby World Cup.
Thirty countries took part, including all thirteen teams from the inaugural event. As before, the 2014 event was played and officiated under a ruleset developed and standardized by the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA), although not a WFTDA-sponsored event. The participating countries were (returning countries in bold):
All teams competed in the group stage. Each team was placed in one of eight groups, which contained either three or four teams. Each of the top eight seeds was placed in a different group, with the number one seed placed in Group 8 and the number eight seed placed in Group 1. Every team played all the other teams in their group for forty-minute matches, and this process determined the seeding for the elimination stage, which were sixty-minute matches.

Roller derby is a roller skating contact sport played on an oval track by two teams of five skaters. It is played by approximately 1,250 amateur leagues worldwide, mostly in the United States.
Windy City Rollers is a women's flat-track roller derby league located in Chicago, Illinois. Founded by Juanna Rumbel and Sister Sledgehammer in 2004, Windy City is the first flat-track roller derby league established in Chicago, and is a founding member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA).
The Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) is the international governing body for the sport of women's flat track roller derby. It sets the international standards for rankings, rules, and competition in the sport, and provides guidance and resources to aid development of roller derby.
The Rose City Rollers is a women's flat track roller derby league based in Portland, Oregon, operating as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, and is a founding member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). Established in 2004, the Rose City Rollers consists of a recreational program, four adult local home teams, and two all-star travel teams that represent the league in competition with others as well as junior skaters on six home teams with a travel team for Rose Petals (7–12) and a travel team for Rosebuds (12–17). Rose City's all-star travel team "Wheels of Justice" won the WFTDA Championships in 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019.
Ohio Roller Derby (OHRD) is a women's flat track roller derby league based in Columbus, Ohio. Founded in 2005, the league currently consists of two mixed teams which compete against teams from other leagues. Ohio Roller Derby is a founding member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA).
Toronto Roller Derby (ToRD), is a women's flat-track roller derby league in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Formed in 2006, the league started play in 2007, and held its tenth season in 2016. Operated and managed by its skaters and members, ToRD has four house teams, one rookie travel team, and one WFTDA charter travel team. Since 2011, the league has operated out of a space in Downsview Park, but announced in January 2015 that they were in search of a new home. They have since moved to another space near Downsview Park.
Tampa Roller Derby (TRD) is a flat track roller derby league based in the Tampa Bay Area. Founded in 2005, Tampa Roller Derby is a member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA).
Central City Roller Derby (CCR) was a women's flat track roller derby league based in Birmingham, United Kingdom. Founded in 2007, the league was a member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) and played under the WFTDA ruleset.
The Victorian Roller Derby League is a flat track roller derby league based in Melbourne, Victoria. Founded in 2007, VRDL provides opportunities for all ages and at all levels to participate and compete in Roller Derby. VRDL is a member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA), having gained membership in December 2011. In November 2017, VRDL became the first non-American team to win the WFTDA Championships. Since 2019, VRDL is the 2nd-ranked team in the WFTDA.
Sun State Roller Derby is a women's flat track roller derby based in Brisbane, in the Australian state of Queensland. Suns State was established in 2007 and has been a member of the international Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) since 2013.

Stuttgart Valley Roller Derby is a women's flat track roller derby league based in Stuttgart. Founded in 2006, the league currently consists of two teams which compete against teams from other leagues. Stuttgart is a member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA).
Pirate City Rollers is a women's flat track roller derby league based in Auckland. Founded in 2006, the league is a member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA).
Terminal City Roller Derby (TCRD) is a flat track roller derby league based in Vancouver. Founded in January 2006 as Terminal City Rollergirls, TCRD is a member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA).
USA Roller Derby represents the United States in international roller derby, in events such as the Roller Derby World Cup. The team's first international competition was the 2011 Roller Derby World Cup, where it finished in first place after defeating Team Canada in the final. During the time period referenced here, it was known as "Team USA". A trademark challenge from the United States Olympic Committee led to the change to the name "USA Roller Derby" after the team's last international appearance.
Team Australia represents Australia in women's international roller derby, under the WFTDA rule set, in play such as at the Roller Derby World Cup. The team was first formed to compete at the 2011 World Cup in Toronto, and finished the tournament in fourth place, beating Team Sweden by 126 points 80 in their quarterfinal, but losing to Team USA 532 to 4 in the semifinal, and to Team England 203 to 85 in the third-place playoff. Before the event, coach Thigh-dal Wave stated that the team aimed to play against the United States and to beat Team New Zealand.

Dead End Derby (DED) is a women's flat track roller derby league based in Christchurch, New Zealand. The league currently consists of 4 teams. Two competitive adult travel teams, the "Death Stars" A team and "Living Dead Rollers" B team, 1 development team "Dead Seas" and 1 Juniors Team "The Rolling Dead".
2x4 Roller Derby is a women's flat track roller derby league based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Founded in 2010, the league consists of three teams that play against each other: Bully Chicks, Cowgirls From Hell and Bloody Furias. It is also represented by three travel teams that play against travel teams from other leagues.
