The 2015 Third Division Football Tournament is the first season under its current league division format. The season begins in June.^[1]

Structure and rule changes

Third division will be played for two stages according to the changes brought to the 2015 season.^[1]

Zone stage

Zone 1—8 includes clubs from all atolls of the Maldives.
Zone 9 split into two groups.
Male' clubs compete in Zone 9 group 1.
Offices and companies' recreation clubs compete in Zone 9 group 2.
Each zone play separate competitions (Zone 9 groups also play separate competition).
Champion teams of all zones qualify for final stage (also referred as Male' round).

Atolls of the Maldives physical geographic entity

The Maldives are formed by a number of natural atolls plus atolls in the form of a few islands and isolated reefs today which form a pattern stretching from 7 degrees 10′ North to 0 degrees 45′ South.

Final stage

10 teams qualified for this stage divided into two even groups.
Teams play against each other once.
Top two teams of each group advance into semi-finals.
Two finalists qualify tor next year's Second Division Football Tournament.

The CONCACAF Champions League is an annual continental club football competition organized by CONCACAF for the top football clubs in North America, Central America, and the Caribbean. The tournament is officially known as the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League, since February 2015, due to sponsorship by Scotiabank. The competition has been completed 54 times through the 2019 event, with 56 champions due to a three-way shared title in the 1978 competition.

The 2018–19 UEFA Champions League was the 64th season of Europe's premier club football tournament organised by UEFA, and the 27th season since it was renamed from the European Champion Clubs' Cup to the UEFA Champions League.

The 2017 Minivan Championship Football Tournament is the third season under its current tournament format. The tournament began in March 15.
