Han Xinyun and Zhang Kailin were the defending champions, but lost in the semifinals.

The 2016 Aegon Eastbourne Trophy was a professional tennis tournament played on outdoor grass courts. It was the second edition of the tournament and part of the 2016 ITF Women's Circuit, offering a total of $50,000 in prize money. It took place in Eastbourne, United Kingdom, on 30 May–5 June 2016.
Raluca Olaru and Xu Yifan were the defending champions, but both players chose not to participate.
Martina Hingis and Sania Mirza were the defending champions, but chose not to participate together. Mirza teamed up with Barbora Strýcová, but lost in the quarterfinals to Caroline Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic. Hingis played alongside CoCo Vandeweghe, but lost in the semifinals to Garcia and Mladenovic.
