The 2016 Balkan Badminton Championships (Romanian : Campionatele Balcanice de Badminton 2016) was a badminton tournament sanctioned by the Balkan Badminton Association and Badminton Europe. The individual and mixed team events were held from 9 to 11 September 2016. [1] [2]

Contents

The tournament was held at Sala Polivalentă Iași located in Iași, Romania. [3] Four countries took part in the tournament. [4]

The team event was played in a round-robin format with only four teams playing. Bulgaria finished in first place with 3 wins against their opponents, followed by hosts Romania with 2 wins and a loss. Serbia earned the bronze medal with 1 win and 2 losses while Moldova finished in fourth place. [5] [6]

The Balkan Badminton Championships is a regional badminton tournament organized by the Balkan Badminton Association (BBA) to crown the best badminton players and teams in the Balkans. The inaugural edition of the championships was hosted in 1992 in Bucharest, Romania. The junior team championships are divided into four different age groups, which are U19, U17, U15 and U13.

Collins Valentine Filimon is a Romanian-born badminton player who is currently representing Austria. He plays for the ASKÖ Traun badminton club. He represented Austria in badminton at the 2024 Summer Olympics.
