2016 Philippines men's national basketball team results

The Philippines national basketball team , led by head coach Tab Baldwin, participated at one of the three the FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournaments which was hosted at home after failing to win the final against China at the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship where the champion automatically qualified for the 2016 Summer Olympics. [1]

Uniforms

The national team adopted a new uniform for the 2016 FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournament in July 2016. At the 2016 FIBA Asia Challenge, the national team used the old uniform once again.

The Philippines men's national 3x3 team represents the country in international 3x3 basketball matches and is governed by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas.

The Philippines men's national basketball team played at the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup held in Spain. The 24-team tournament began on August 30, and the winner automatically qualifies for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The Philippines qualified for the World Cup by virtue of the silver medal won by their 2013 FIBA Asia Championship squad.

The Philippines men's national basketball team represents the Philippines in international basketball competitions. It is managed by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas. A 1936 founding member of FIBA Asia, Philippines is one of the oldest teams and has one of Asia's longest basketball traditions. The team won a bronze medal in the 1954 FIBA World Championship for men, the best finish by any team outside the Americas and Europe. Also, the team took a fifth-place finish in 1936 Summer Olympics, the best finish by any team outside the Americas, Europe and Oceania. Timothy Charles Lewis is a British basketball coach. He is currently an Assistant Coach with responsibility for game plan review for the Minnesota Timberwolves of the National Basketball Association. He was formerly the head coach for the Thailand men's national basketball team and Assistant coach to the Great Britain 2012 Olympic Team.

Qualifying for the 2016 FIBA Asia Challenge is currently being held to determine the eight teams that will participate in the 2016 FIBA Asia Challenge, aside from the host team Iran and 2015 FIBA Asia Championship winners China. Qualification is via FIBA Asia zone, with each zone having an automatic one berth, plus additional berths from the teams' zones of the second and third runners-up in the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2017 SEABA Championship</span>

The 12th Southeast Asia Basketball Association Championship was the qualifying tournament for the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup. It also served as a regional championship involving Southeast Asian basketball teams. It was held from 12 to 18 May 2017 in the Philippines.

The Philippines men's national basketball team, led by head coach Chot Reyes qualified for the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup and the first round of the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup Asian qualifiers by earning the sole Southeast Asia berth at the 2017 SEABA Championship. In the first round of the FIBA Basketball World Cup qualifiers the Philippines was grouped with Australia, Japan and Chinese Taipei. They won over Japan in Tokyo and secured a win over Chinese Taipei at home in Quezon City. They will play against the two teams one more time as well as Australia twice in 2018.

The Philippines men's national basketball team has competed in FIBA competitions for basketball clubs such as the FIBA Asia Champions Cup. In such cases the national team competed, they played under a club name, usually after a sponsor.

The women's national 3x3 team of the Philippines represents the country in international 3x3 basketball matches and is controlled by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas.

The Philippines men's national basketball team competed in the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup which was held in China from August 31 to September 15, 2019. This is the Philippines second straight appearance in the FIBA Basketball World Cup since its participation in the 2014 edition hosted in Spain.

The Philippines men's national basketball team competed in the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup. The tournament will be co-hosted by the Philippines, Japan, and Indonesia from August 25 to September 10, 2019. This is the Philippines third straight appearance in the FIBA Basketball World Cup since its participation in the 2014 edition hosted in Spain.
