A by-elections in Senate District 59 was held in Poland on 6 March 2016. The election was required due to the President Andrzej Duda appointing incumbent Senator Bohdan Paszkowski as the Voivode of Podlaskie.
The result was a victory for Anna Maria Anders of the Law and Justice party. Voter turnout was just 17.11%. [1]
The front-runner of these elections was the right-wing candidate Anna Maria Anders, who received the support of PiS. A few months earlier the PiS candidate Bohdan Paszkowski won nearly half of votes there. The centrist and leftist opposition united and supported Mieczysław Bagiński, who took the second place in this district a few months ago. He obtained the support of PSL, PO, Modern, and SLD. In elections he won over 40% (previously 27.44%) of votes, but it did not allow him to win a mandate, because Anna Maria Anders won 6% more votes.

On 13 February the Sejm accepted a proposal for an amendment to the electoral court act to allow voting for the European Parliament election of 2009 to take place over 2 days i.e. the 6 and 7 June 2009. However, on 5 March, the proposal was referred to the Constitutional Tribunal of the Republic of Poland by the Polish President, Lech Kaczyński. The Polish electorate elected 50 MEPs. In the 27 EU Member States, at total of 736 MEPs were elected from 4–7 June 2009.

Presidential elections were held in Poland on 10 and 24 May 2015. In the first round of voting Law and Justice (PiS) candidate, lawyer and Member of the European Parliament, Andrzej Duda received the greatest number of votes with a share of 34.76%, followed by incumbent president Bronisław Komorowski, who ran as an independent with the endorsement of the Civic Platform (PO), which he had renounced his membership in after winning the 2010 elections. Independent candidate Paweł Kukiz came third with 20.80% of the votes. As no candidate had received more than 50% of the votes cast, a second round was held on 24 May between the two highest-placed candidates, Duda and Komorowski. This round was won by Duda with 51.5% of the votes, to Komorowski's 48.5%.

Nonpartisan Local Government Activists is a Polish political movement. Operating mainly at a regional level in a decentralised manner, it participates in elections as a national committee joining the individual regional counterparts. The organisation initially started out in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship before expanding to the rest of the country. The party is a heavily decentralised and federated organisation that fields candidates for local governments, often creating and cooperating with local committees and regional organisations. The BS lacks a central leadership and regional structures. The parties rule themselves separately and autonomously. Nonpartisan Local Government Activists frequently acts as a minor partner of regional governing coalitions, such as in the voivodeships of Lubuskie and Lower Silesia.
