The 2017 Allan Cup was the Canadian championship of senior ice hockey and the 109th year the Allan Cup was awarded. The tournament was played at the J.K. Irving Centre in Bouctouche, New Brunswick from April 10 to 15, 2017 and won by the Grand Falls-Windsor Cataracts. [1]
Kenora, Ontario was originally named the host city for the 2017 national championship. Following the dissolution of the Kenora Thistles senior hockey club in 2016, Hockey Canada awarded hosting duties to the community of Bouctouche and the Bouctouche Dodge Rams JCs. [2] [3]
Former professional hockey players competing in this year's Allan Cup were: Aaron Asham (Bouctouche), Ryan Bonni (South East), Steve Christie (South East), Ryan O'Marra (Stoney Creek), Terry Yake (South East), and Tyler Sloan (Grand Falls-Windsor). [4]

Allan Cup Hockey (ACH), formerly Major League Hockey until 2011, is the top tier Canadian senior ice hockey league in the province of Ontario. Founded in 1990, as the Southwestern Senior "A" Hockey League, the ACH is a member of the Ontario Hockey Association and Hockey Canada. The ACH's champion contends for the Allan Cup each year. The league came to its latest incarnation when it lost several teams leaving it with two and as a result it merged with the Eastern Ontario Senior Hockey League in 2008.
The Lakehead Junior Hockey League is a Canadian Junior ice hockey league in Northwestern Ontario, sanctioned by Hockey Northwestern Ontario and Hockey Canada. An earlier edition of this league existed in the 1970s.

The Grand Falls-Windsor Cataracts are a senior ice hockey team based in Grand Falls-Windsor, Newfoundland and Labrador and a member of the Central Division of the Newfoundland Senior Hockey League.
The West Coast Senior Hockey League (WCSHL) was a senior ice hockey league with teams based in Newfoundland and Labrador. The WCSHL was founded in 1996 as a senior B intermediate league and developed into a senior A league. It operated until the summer of 2011 when the WCSHL merged with the Avalon East Senior Hockey League to form the Newfoundland Senior Hockey League. The league resurface again for the 2016–2017 season, with that season being shorten, now for the 2017–2018 season it has an 18-game season, with teams based out of Corner Brook, Deer Lake, Stephenville, and Port aux Basques.
The Kenora Thistles were a Canadian senior ice hockey club from Kenora, Ontario. The club most recently played in the 2015–16 season in the Hockey Northwestern Ontario and were hosts of the 2011 Allan Cup.

The Stoney Creek Generals were a Canadian senior ice hockey team playing out of Gateway Ice Centre in Stoney Creek, Ontario. In 2013, the Stoney Creek Generals joined the Ontario Hockey Association's Allan Cup Hockey League and began operations. The Stoney Creek Generals won the J. Ross Robertson Cup as the league's playoffs champions in four consecutive seasons from 2016 to 2019.

The 2019 Allan Cup was the Canadian championship of senior ice hockey and the 111th year the Allan Cup was awarded. The tournament played in Lacombe, Alberta from April 8–13, 2019. The Lacombe Generals defeated the Innisfail Eagles 5–2 in the final to win the national championship.
