The Big Ten Conference is the oldest Division I collegiate athletic conference in the United States. It is based in Rosemont, Illinois. For decades the conference consisted of 10 universities, while the present conference has 14 member institutions. They compete in the NCAA Division I; its football teams compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), formerly known as Division I-A, the highest level of NCAA competition in that sport. The conference includes the flagship public university in each of 11 states stretching from New Jersey to Nebraska, as well as two additional public land-grant schools and a private university.
The Big Ten men's basketball tournament is held annually at the end of the men's college basketball regular season. The tournament has been played each year since 1998. The winner of the tournament is designated the Big Ten Tournament Champion, and receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Big Ten was one of the last NCAA Division I college basketball conferences to start a tournament. The finals of the tournament are typically held immediately before the field for the NCAA Tournament is announced, although in 2018 it was held the week before Selection Sunday.
The Penn State Nittany Lions are the athletic teams of Pennsylvania State University, except for the women's basketball team, known as the Lady Lions. The school colors are navy blue and white. The school mascot is the Nittany Lion. The intercollegiate athletics logo was commissioned in 1983.

The Johns Hopkins Blue Jays are the intercollegiate athletic teams that represent Johns Hopkins University, located in Baltimore, Maryland. They compete in the NCAA Division III, except for their lacrosse teams, which compete in Division I. They are primarily members of the Centennial Conference. The team colors are Hopkins blue and black, and the blue jay is their mascot. Homewood Field is the home stadium.
The ACC–Big Ten Women's Challenge is an in-season NCAA women's college basketball series established in 2007 that matches up teams from the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and the Big Ten Conference. The challenge is identical in format to the men's ACC–Big Ten Challenge.
The Johns Hopkins–Maryland lacrosse rivalry is an intercollegiate rivalry between the Johns Hopkins Blue Jays, which represent Johns Hopkins University, and the Maryland Terrapins, which represent the University of Maryland. The most prominent event has been the men's lacrosse series, which is widely regarded as one of the greatest rivalries in the sport. More than 115 contests in the series have been played since the schools first met in 1895. The competition is intensified by each program's status as a traditional lacrosse powerhouse. As such, the game has often held national championship implications, and twice the teams played to represent the United States in the Olympics.
The Limestone Saints are the athletic teams that represent Limestone College, located in Gaffney, South Carolina, in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sporting competitions. The Saints compete as members of Conference Carolinas for most sports, which Limestone has been a member of since 1998. The swim team competes in the Bluegrass Mountain Conference, and the field hockey and wrestling teams are members of the ECAC–Division II. The football team competes as an independent, but has a scheduling agreement (2015–2018) with the South Atlantic Conference.
The Maryland Terrapins field hockey team is the intercollegiate field hockey program representing the University of Maryland. The school competes in the Big Ten Conference in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), although it was a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) before 2014. The Maryland field hockey team plays its home games at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex on the university campus in College Park, Maryland. The Terrapins are among the most accomplished field hockey programs in the country, and they have won a total of eight NCAA national championships and 13 conference championships. The team is currently coached by Missy Meharg.
The Northwestern Wildcats field hockey team is the intercollegiate field hockey program representing Northwestern University. The school competes in the Big Ten Conference in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The Northwestern field hockey team plays its home games at Lakeside Field on the university campus in Evanston, Illinois. The Wildcats have won six regular-season conference titles, one conference tournament championship, and have appeared in the NCAA tournament 13 times, advancing to the Final Four on four separate occasions. The team is currently coached by Tracey Fuchs.

The 2015 Big Ten Men's Lacrosse Tournament took place April 30 to May 2 at Capital One Field at Byrd Stadium in College Park, Maryland. The winner of the tournament received the Big Ten Conference's automatic bid to the 2015 NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship. Four teams competed in the inaugural Big Ten Conference Men's Lacrosse Tournament in a single elimination format. The seeds were based upon the teams' regular season conference record. Johns Hopkins won the tournament, beating Ohio State 13-6.

The 2016 Maryland Terrapins football team represented the University of Maryland, College Park in the 2016 NCAA Division I FBS football season. It was the Terrapins' third season as a member of the Big Ten Conference, and a member of the East Division. Maryland played its home games at Maryland Stadium in College Park, Maryland. It was their first year under new head coach D.J. Durkin. They finished the season 6–7, 3–6 in Big Ten play to finish in fifth place in the East Division. They were invited to the Quick Lane Bowl where they were defeated by Boston College.
The 2016 Big Ten Women's Lacrosse Tournament was held May 5 to May 8 at Lanny and Sharon Martin Stadium in Evanston, Illinois. The winner of the tournament received the Big Ten Conference's automatic bid to the 2016 NCAA Division I Women's Lacrosse Championship. All six conference teams competed in the event. The tournament format is single elimination. The seeds were based upon the teams' regular season conference record. Maryland won their first conference tournament championship after winning the first two regular season crowns in conference history.
The 2017 Big Ten Conference Softball tournament was held at Wilpon Complex on the campus of University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan from May 11 through May 13, 2017. As the tournament winner, Minnesota earned the Big Ten Conference's automatic bid to the 2017 NCAA Division I Softball Tournament. All games of the tournament aired on BTN.
The 2018 Big Ten Conference Women's Basketball Tournament was the postseason women's basketball tournament for the Big Ten Conference during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. It was held from February 28 through March 4, 2018 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Ohio State defeated Maryland 79–69 in the championship game to win the tournament, and received the Big Ten's automatic bid to the 2018 NCAA Tournament.
The 2018 Big Ten Conference men's soccer season was the 28th season of men's varsity soccer in the conference. The regular season began on August 24, 2018 and concluded on October 28, 2018. The season culminated with the 2018 Big Ten Conference Men's Soccer Tournament to determine the conference's automatic berth into the 2018 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Tournament. Michigan entered the season as the defending regular season champions, while Wisconsin entered the season as the defending tournament champions.
The 2019–20 Big Ten men's basketball season began with practices in October 2019, followed by the start of the 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball season on November 5, 2019. The regular season ended on March 8, 2020.
The 2019 Big Ten Conference Men's Soccer Tournament was the 29th edition of the tournament. It determined the Big Ten Conference's automatic berth into the 2019 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Tournament. Maryland hosted the semifinal and final rounds of the tournament.
