The Big Sky Conference is a collegiate athletic conference, affiliated with the NCAA's Division I with football competing in the Football Championship Subdivision. As of 2024, ten full member institutions are located in the states of Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Utah, and Washington. Two affiliate members from California are football–only participants.
The NAU Lumberjacks are the varsity athletic teams representing Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona in intercollegiate athletics. The school's mascot was adopted in 1946. The Lumberjacks compete in NCAA Division I and are full members of the Big Sky Conference with the exception of the women's swimming and diving team which is an affiliate member of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC).
The NAU Lumberjacks football program is the intercollegiate American football team for the Northern Arizona University located in Flagstaff, Arizona. The team competes in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) and is a member of the Big Sky Conference. The school's first football team was fielded in 1915. The team plays its home games at the 10,500 seat Walkup Skydome. Brian Wright was hired as the Head Football Coach on December 3, 2023.
The Southern Utah Thunderbirds football program is a college football team that represents Southern Utah University (SUU). With a history dating back to 1963, SUU currently competes in the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision as a member of the United Athletic Conference.

The 2013 UC Davis football team represented the University of California, Davis as a member of the Big Sky Conference during the 2013 NCAA Division I FCS football season. Led by first-year head coach Ron Gould, UC Davis compiled an overall record of 5–7 with a mark of 5–3 in conference play, placing in four-way tie for fourth in the Big Sky. The Aggies played home games at Aggie Stadium in Davis, California.

Led by first-year head coach Beau Baldwin, the Mustangs compiled an overall record of 0–3 with an identical mark in conference play, placing eighth in the Big Sky. Cal poly played home games at Mustang Stadium in San Luis Obispo, California.
