Great West Conference

The Great West Conference (GWC) was an NCAA college athletic conference in the continental United States. Originally a football-only league, it became an all-sports entity during the 2008–09 season. The GWC stopped sponsoring football following the 2011 season. The conference became defunct when four of the remaining five full member schools became members of other conferences on July 1, 2013.

In American college sports, NCAA Division I independent schools are four-year institutions that do not belong to a conference for a particular sport.

Northern Arizona Lumberjacks Collegiate sports club of NAU, Flagstaff, AZ

The NAU Lumberjacks are the varsity athletic teams representing Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona in intercollegiate athletics. The school's mascot was adopted in 1946. The Lumberjacks compete in NCAA Division I and are full members of the Big Sky Conference with the exception of the women's swimming and diving team which is an affiliate member of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC).

The Northern Arizona Lumberjacks football program is the intercollegiate American football team for the Northern Arizona University located in Flagstaff, Arizona. The team competes in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) and is a member of the Big Sky Conference. The school's first football team was fielded in 1915. The team plays its home games at the 17,500 seat Walkup Skydome. Chris Ball has been the head coach since the 2019 season.

The Lumberjacks were led by fifth-year head coach Jack Murphy and played their home games at the Walkup Skydome in Flagstaff, Arizona as members of the Big Sky Conference. They finished the season 9–23, 6–12 in Big Sky play to finish in tenth place. As the no. 9 seed in the Big Sky Tournament, the lost in the First Round to Portland State.
