The 2017 Western New Mexico Mustangs football team represented Western New Mexico University (WNMU) in the 2017 NCAA Division II football season. They were led by eighth-year head coach Adam Clark. The Mustangs played their home games at Altamirano Stadium and were members of the Lone Star Conference.

Following the season, Clark announced that he would be stepping down as the program's head coach. Clark finished his tenure at WNMU with an overall record of 33–54 through eight seasons. [1] [2] [3] [4]

Schedule

Western New Mexico announced its 2017 football schedule on January 23, 2017. The schedule consists of six home and five away games in the regular season. The Mustangs will host LSC foes Eastern New Mexico, Tarleton State, Texas A&M-Kingsville, and UT Permian Basin and will travel to Angelo State, Midwestern State, Texas A&M-Commerce, and West Texas A&M. [6]

The Mustangs will host two of its three non-conference games against Fort Lewis from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and Western Oregon and travel to San Diego from the Pioneer Football League.

The East Texas A&M Lions football team is the college football program representing East Texas A&M University. The school competes in the Southland Conference (SLC) in Division I FCS of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The East Texas A&M football team plays its home games at Ernest Hawkins Field at Memorial Stadium on the university campus in Commerce, Texas. They were led by head coach Bill Maskill, who is in his 16th season at Midwestern State. The Mustangs played their home games at Memorial Stadium and were members of the Lone Star Conference.

The 2017 Tarleton State Texans football team represented Tarleton State University in the 2017 NCAA Division II football season. They were led by head coach Todd Whitten, who was in his consecutive second season at Tarleton State and eighth overall as head coach of the Texans. The Texans played their home games at Memorial Stadium and were members of the Lone Star Conference. The 2017 Texas A&M–Commerce Lions football team represented Texas A&M University–Commerce in the 2017 NCAA Division II football season. They were led by head coach Colby Carthel, who was in his fifth season at Texas A&M-Commerce. The Lions played their home games at Memorial Stadium and were members of the Lone Star Conference. They were led by third-year head coach Justin Carrigan. The Falcons played their home games at Ratliff Stadium in Odessa, Texas, with one home game played at Grande Communications Stadium in Midland, and were members of the Lone Star Conference (LSC). The team matched its record from the previous two seasons, finishing with a record of 2–9 and went 1–7 in conference play.

The 2022 UT Permian Basin Falcons football team represented the University of Texas of the Permian Basin (UTPB) in the 2022 NCAA Division II football season as a member of the Lone Star Conference (LSC). The team played its home games at Astound Broadband Stadium in Midland, Texas while Ratliff Stadium in Odessa hosted two home games. The Falcons were led by seventh-year head coach Justin Carrigan. On November 28, Carrigan announced that he would be stepping down as the program's head coach. The following day it was announced he would be stepping into an administrative role, being named the university's deputy athletic director.

The 2024 UT Permian Basin Falcons football team represents the University of Texas of the Permian Basin (UTPB) in the 2024 NCAA Division II football season as a member of the Lone Star Conference (LSC). They are led by second-year head coach Kris McCullough. The Falcons play most of their home games at Astound Broadband Stadium in Midland, Texas while Ratliff Stadium in Odessa, Texas hosted one game. UTPB entered the 2024 season as the defending LSC champion.

The 2024 Sul Ross Lobos football team represents Sul Ross State University during the 2024 NCAA Division II football season as a member of the Lone Star Conference (LSC). The Lobos are led by third-year head coach Barry Derickson and play their home games at Jackson Field in Alpine, Texas.

Adam Clark is an American college football coach. He is the defensive coordinator for Northern Arizona University, a position he has held since 2024. He was the head football coach for Western New Mexico University from 2010 to 2017 and ended his tenure with the third-highest wins in program history. He also coached for St. Ambrose, Graceland, Colorado Mines, Tarleton State, and Angelo State. He played college football for Grossmont and St. Ambrose as a linebacker.
