Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards (AMVCA) is an annual accolade presented by MultiChoice recognizing outstanding achievement in television and film. The inaugural Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards ceremony was held in Lagos, Lagos State in Nigeria on 9 March 2013, and was broadcast live in more than 50 countries. Entries into the award ceremony are films and TV series that have been aired in the previous year.

Femi Jacobs is a Nigerian actor, speaker and singer. He came into prominence for playing Makinde Esho in the film The Meeting, which also stars Rita Dominic and Jide Kosoko. For his role in The Meeting, he received a nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role at the 9th Africa Movie Academy Awards. He also won the award for Best Actor in a Comedy at the 2015 Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards (AMVCA).

Tatu is a 2017 Nigerian adventure film directed by Don Omope. It was written by Jude Idada and is an adaptation of the novel "Tatu", written by Abraham Nwankwo in 2014. The film received several nominations at the 2018 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards. The film also received joint most nominations at the 2018 Africa Magic Choice Awards.

Udoka Oyeka is a Nigerian-American actor, director, and producer. He directed the short film, Down and Out, which was nominated in 3 categories, including best short film at the 2013 Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards.

The Unbroken Spirit, is a 2019 Malawian romantic drama film directed by Imran Kingsly Shaban and produced by Imran Pitersen Kaisi. The film stars Ken Kananji and Bertha Nkhoma in lead roles whereas Abdullah and Kamlanje Fantasia Mkwamba made supportive roles. The film was shot in the Malawi Mangochi District at Che Moto Village.

The 2022 Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards held on Saturday, 14 May 2022 at Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos. It was set an 8-day event which started on Saturday, 7 May 2022, unlike previous 1 day events.

Hakeem Effects, is a Nollywood make-up artist; with specialties include special effects, eyebrows and eyelashes. He is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of "Tricks International"; a special effects and prosthetics company serving a range of productions in the Nollywood film industry. He is known for working on several major films such as King of Boys and Omo Ghetto: The Saga, as well as several music videos.

The 2023 Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards was held between 18 and 20 May 2023. The event included a series of pre-show activities with the actual award show held on 20 May 2023.
