Two-time defending champions, Albany, were eliminated in the first round by UMass Lowell, meaning there would be a new America East Tournament champion for the first time since 2015. New Hampshire ultimately won the championship, defeating UMBC by a 5-0 scoreline in the final. [1] [2] It was New Hampshire's first America East championship they won, losing the previous four occasions. [3] [4]

New Hampshire was the conference's lone bid into the NCAA Tournament. They hosted Colgate for the chance to play the top overall seed, Wake Forest [5] in the second round. [6] There, New Hampshire lost 1–0 to Colgate. [7] [8]

The 2020–21 New Hampshire Wildcats men's basketball team represented the University of New Hampshire in the 2020–21 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The five-match tournament took place at campus sites, with the higher seed hosting. The six-team single-elimination tournament consisted of three rounds based on seeding from regular season conference play. The defending champions were the Vermont Catamounts, who were unable to defend their title, losing in the Semifinals to Albany. New Hampshire went on to win the tournament after a 2–0 victory in the final over Albany. It was the fourth victory for the New Hampshire Wildcats soccer program, all of which have come under Head Coach Marc Hubbard. This was New Hampshire's fourth tournament victory in the last five years. As tournament champions, New Hampshire earned the America East's automatic berth into the 2022 NCAA Division I men's soccer tournament.
