Barry resigned from these roles in April 2016.

The 2013 Canon Media Awards were presented on Friday 10 May 2013 at the Pullman Hotel in Auckland, New Zealand. Awards were made in the categories of photography, online, magazines, newspapers, and general. Organisers received more than 1400 entries. The awards were judged by 26 industry experts from New Zealand, Australia and Asia. The New Zealand Herald was awarded Newspaper of the Year.

David Farrier New Zealand journalist and actor

David Farrier is a New Zealand journalist and actor. He has worked in news and documentary, including features on New Zealand television and co-directing the internationally distributed documentary film Tickled (2016). In 2018, he created the Netflix documentary series Dark Tourist, in which he visits obscure, peculiar, or dangerous tourist spots. He has also done some acting, most notably in the Rhys Darby mockumentary series Short Poppies.

Patrick Gower is a New Zealand political journalist and National Correspondent for Newshub. Prior to his current role he was Newshub's political editor.

2018 New Zealand National Party leadership election

The 2018 New Zealand National Party leadership election was held on 27 February 2018 to determine the 12th Leader of the National Party. On 13 February 2018, Bill English announced his resignation as leader of the National Party, effective on 27 February 2018. He left Parliament on 13 March 2018. On 20 February, Deputy Leader Paula Bennett announced that a concurrent deputy leadership election would take place, in which she would stand.

The 2017 Canon Media Awards were presented on 19 May 2017 at The Langham, Auckland, New Zealand. Awards were made in the categories of digital, feature writing, general, magazines, newspapers, opinion writing, photography, reporting and videography. The Wolfson scholarship, health journalism scholarships, and awards for editorial executive and outstanding achievements, were also presented.

The 2015 Canon Media Awards were hosted by Hilary Barry, for the New Zealand Newspaper Publishers' Association, on 22 May 2015 at the SkyCity Convention Centre in Auckland, New Zealand. The Newspaper of the Year was The New Zealand Herald, and the Reporter of the Year was Jared Savage of The New Zealand Herald.

Toby Morris is a New Zealand cartoonist, comics artist, illustrator and writer, best known for non-fiction online comics that often highlight social issues.

Mike White (journalist) Journalist and author

Mike White is a New Zealand investigative journalist, photographer and author, and former foreign correspondent. He has written two books and has won many awards for his magazine articles on themes of justice within New Zealand. He is also an awarded travel writer. White has won New Zealand Feature Writer of the Year three times, and a Wolfson Fellowship to the University of Cambridge. He has also won the Cathay Pacific New Zealand Travel Writer of the Year title three times.

Te Mahoe is a rural settlement in the Whakatāne District and Bay of Plenty Region of New Zealand's North Island, next to Lake Matahina.

Tova O'Brien is a New Zealand political journalist. She hosts the Tova Breakfast show on New Zealand news and talk radio station Today FM, and previously led the team of political reporters for Newshub.

Madeleine Chapman New Zealand journalist, sportsperson

Madeleine Elsie Chapman is a New Zealand editor, journalist and author, and the current editor of The Spinoff and former editor of North & South. Chapman co-wrote the autobiography of New Zealand professional basketball player Steven Adams, and in 2020 a biography of the Prime Minister of New Zealand, Jacinda Ardern.
