The 2019 Canadian American Association of Professional Baseball season began May 16 and ended September 2. It was the 15th season of operations for the league. Following the regular season, the playoffs were held. The New Jersey Jackals defeated the previous defending champions Sussex County Miners in the fourth game of the championship round on September 14, 2019. It was the Jackals’ fifth championship overall as a team for the first time in fifteen years, but it was their first championship title as a member of the Can-Am League. [1]

This would be the last season in Can-Am League history, as the league announced on October 16, 2019 that they would merge with the Frontier League and operate as a 14-team league under the Frontier League banner. All teams except the Ottawa Champions were absorbed by the Frontier League. [2]

Season summary

Once again, the Cuban National Baseball Team and Shikoku Island team both toured during the regular season, facing all six of the Can-Am League teams. This season also saw the Empire League playing four games. Shortly after this season, the Can-Am League merged with the Frontier League, absorbing five of its teams to make a total of 14 teams. [3]

All-star game and home run derby

In the 2019 season, the league held a home run derby and all-star game. The events took place on July 9–10, 2019 at Palisades Credit Union Park, home of the Rockland Boulders. In both events, the Can-Am League All-Stars faced the Frontier League All-Stars. [4] The home run derby was played on July 9, 2019, where Boulders star Grant Heyman won the home run derby for the Can-Am League. The all-star game was played the following day, July 10, where the Frontier League defeated the Can-Am League, 7–0. J.J. Hernandez was named the all-star game MVP for the Frontier League.

The team was owned by a group led by Floyd Hall, who also owns the New Jersey Jackals. The Champions made their debut as a member of the Canadian American Association of Professional Baseball in 2015. They won their first league championship in 2016 defeating the Rockland Boulders 3-2 after being down 2-0 in the series, winning game 5, 3-1 with a complete game win by Austin Chrismon. They played their home games at Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton Park. The Champions mascot was Champ.

The Sussex County Miners are a professional baseball team based in Augusta, New Jersey. They compete in the Frontier League (FL) as a member of the East Division, and have played their home games at Skylands Stadium, originally known as Skylands Park, since 2015. The Miners are not currently affiliated to any Major League Baseball teams, but are official MLB Partners since 2020. They were originally members of the Canadian American Association of Professional Baseball until 2020. They joined the Frontier League for the 2020 season when it absorbed the Can-Am League.

The 2016 Canadian American Association of Professional Baseball season began May 19 and ended September 5. Following the regular season, the playoffs were held. It was the 12th season of operation for this professional independent baseball league. The Ottawa Champions won their first ever title in just their second season, defeating the Rockland Boulders in the fifth and deciding game of the league championships, played on September 17.

The 2015 Canadian American Association of Professional Baseball season began on May 21, 2015, and ended on September 7, 2015. Following the regular season, the playoffs were held. It was the 11th season of operations for this professional independent baseball league. The Trois-Rivières Aigles won their first championship title in just their third season, defeating the New Jersey Jackals in the fifth and deciding game of the league championships, played on September 20, 2015.

The 2014 Canadian American Association of Professional Baseball season was the league's 10th season of operations. Following the regular season, the playoffs were held. The Rockland Boulders captured their first championship title in just their fourth season, in the sixth game on September 8, 2014, over their rivals, the New Jersey Jackals. Since there were only four teams in the league, the top two teams made it to the playoffs for a single championship round.

The 2017 Canadian American Association of Professional Baseball season began on May 18, 2017, and ended on September 4, 2017. Following the regular season, the playoffs were held. It was the league's 13th season of operations. The Quebec Capitales defeated the Rockland Boulders in the championship round to capture their seventh championship. To date, the Capitales have the most championships out of any team in the Can-Am League.

The All-American Baseball Challenge was a six-team recreational baseball league formed in July 2020 in the New York City metropolitan area. Local ownership quickly organized this pop-up league in response to the cancellation of the 2020 Frontier League season, which was to feature three of the teams involved, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
