A mayoral election was held in Quetzaltenango on 16 June 2019. [1]
The elections were held next to the presidential, legislative, municipal and Central American Parliament elections. Twenty candidates were presented. [1] [2]
The previous mayor, Luis Grijalva Minera, did not run for re-election due to possible cases of corruption, as well as ideological discrepancies with the party that postulated him. [3]

The Unionist Party is a conservative political party in Guatemala, who advocates the re-creation of a Central American union.

Margarita Dabdoub Sikaffi is a Honduran politician. She is commonly known as Margie Dip. Dabdoub was the first female mayor of La Ceiba. She served as mayor of La Ceiba 1994–1998. Prior to entering electoral politics, Dabdoub worked as spokesperson for the Standard Fruit Company. She was named as governor of the Atlantida department by president Manuel Zelaya. Following the 2009 Honduran coup d'etat, that ousted Zelaya, Dabdoub declared that she had not been a 'cuartista' but opposed the coup.

Ernesto Luis Muyshondt García–Prieto, is a Salvadoran businessman, politician and member of the Nationalist Republican Alliance (ARENA) party. He served as the mayor of San Salvador, the capital and largest city in El Salvador, from 2018 to 2021. He was previously a deputy of the Legislative Assembly of El Salvador from 2015 until 2018.
Mayoral and municipal elections were held in San Jose, Costa Rica, on 7 February 2016 and were the method by which the citizens of the canton of San José elected the mayor, deputy mayors, syndics, aldermen and district councilors of the capital municipality. For the first time the elections of aldermen were joined by the other municipal authorities after the 2009 reform to the Municipal Code. This was the fourth time that the Josefinos chose the Mayor of San José. The winner was former presidential candidate Johnny Araya Monge with more than 40% of the votes, followed by Guido Granados of the National Liberation Party with 16% and the ex-deputy Jorge Eduardo Sánchez of the Social Christian Unity Party with 10%.
Referendums in Costa Rica are regulated by law. The main juridical body that regulates is the Law of Referendum or Law 8492. To this date the only nation-wide referendum done since the current Constitution and the afore mentioned referendum regulatory law is in place was the 2007 Costa Rican Dominican Republic – Central America Free Trade Agreement referendum.

General elections were held in Guatemala on 25 June 2023 to elect the president and vice president, all 160 seats in Congress, all 20 members of the Central American Parliament, and mayors and councils for all the country's 340 municipalities. Incumbent president Alejandro Giammattei was constitutionally prohibited from running for a second four-year term. However, as no presidential candidate obtained over 50 percent of the vote in the first round on 25 June 2023, a second round was held between the top two finishers on 20 August 2023: Congressman Bernardo Arévalo of the Movimiento Semilla and Sandra Torres, a former first lady representing the National Unity of Hope (UNE) party. Arévalo defeated Torres in the second round with nearly 61 percent of the vote in what was seen as a landslide. The ruling Vamos party won the largest number of seats in Congress.

Roberto González Díaz-Durán is a Guatemalan economist and politician who served as Minister of Energy and Mines from 2004 to 2005. González has been an unsuccessful candidate for mayor of Guatemala City in 2007, 2011, 2019 and 2023, he came in second place in all elections.
