The five-overtime match-up against Elon marked the longest game in school history (the Tribe had never played in a game longer than two overtimes). [3] This contest was also the first time a new NCAA football overtime rule was used (effected in 2019): starting with the fifth overtime period, each team will line up to attempt a two-point conversion instead of snapping the ball from the 25-yard-line. [3] William & Mary converted their attempt while Elon did not. [3]
