The 2020 BBL-Pokal is the 54th season of the BBL-Pokal, the domestic cup competition of the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL). [1]

Contents

Participants

The sixteen highest placed teams from the 2019–20 Basketball Bundesliga, without the relegated teams and promoted teams, qualified for the tournament.

Format

The format will be changed for this season because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The 16 teams will be split into four qualification tournaments of four teams (North and South). The winner of each tournament will qualify for the final four.

Qualification tournament

The teams will be split into a "North" and "South" zone and play a four-team tournament at a pre-selected venue. [2] The draw was held on 3 September 2020. [3]

The first placed team in each tournament qualifies for the final four. [4]

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some games will be played behind closed doors.

The Basketball Bundesliga (BBL), for sponsorship reasons named easyCredit BBL, is the highest level league of professional club basketball in Germany. The league comprises 18 teams. A BBL season is split into a league stage and a playoff stage. Basketball Bundesliga-Pokal, commonly known as the BBL-Pokal, is the annual national basketball cup competition in Germany. Since 2009, the title has been awarded to the winner of a tournament competition between top clubs of each Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) season.

The Basketball Bundesliga 2014–15 was the 49th season of the Basketball Bundesliga. The regular season started on 2 October 2014 and ended on 3 May 2015. The Playoffs started on 9 May and ended on 21 June 2015.

Angelo Caloiaro American-Italian professional basketball player

Angelo Dominik Caloiaro is an American-Italian professional basketball player for Maccabi Tel Aviv of the Israeli Premier League and the EuroLeague. He played college basketball for the University San Francisco before playing professionally in Bulgaria, Germany, Spain, Turkey and Israel. Standing at 6 ft 8 in (2.03 m), he plays at the power forward and small forward positions.

2017 BBL-Pokal

The 2017 BBL-Pokal was the 50th season of the German Basketball Cup. The Final Four was held in Berlin, which gained Alba Berlin automatic qualification. The other six participating teams were selected through the standings in the 2016–17 Basketball Bundesliga.

James Robinson (basketball, born 1994) American basketball player

James Robinson is an American professional basketball player for Basketball Löwen Braunschweig of the German Basketball Bundesliga (BBL). He played college basketball for the University of Pittsburgh before playing professionally in Bosnia, Germany and Israel.

Leon Kratzer is a German professional basketball player for Telekom Baskets Bonn of the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL).
