The 2020 National Pro Fastpitch season was to be the 17th season of professional softball under the name National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) for the only professional women's softball league in the United States. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic the season was cancelled.

Summary

The 2020 season was expected to feature 5 teams with a new schedule format. [1] The California Commotion joined as an expansion side, [2] [3] while the Beijing Eagles and USSSA Pride departed the league. [4] [5] Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, on March 16, the league postponed and later cancelled the 2020 NPF Draft and postponed the start of the season. [6] On March 31, the Aussie Peppers opted out of participating in the season due to the pandemic. [7] On April 13, the Canadian Wild became the second team to opt out of the season. [8] On May 15, the NPF officially cancelled the season. [9]

It took place April 15, 2019 in Nashville, Tennessee at Acme Feed & Seed, a downtown entertainment venue. It was available for internet viewing via NPFTV, the league's streaming platform. The Chicago Bandits selected Kelly Barnhill from Florida with the first overall pick in the draft.

The Canadian Wild, officially the Canadian Wild of Southern Illinois, is a professional women's softball team based in Marion, Illinois. They were founded in 2019 as part of National Pro Fastpitch and are partnered with the Canada women's national softball team. The team is composed entirely of Canadian players and is essentially the Canada women's national softball team and allows the team to play against top competition for most of the year, although there are some other players from Softball Canada on the roster.

The 2020 NPF College Draft was to have been the 17th annual collegiate draft for the National Pro Fastpitch. It was scheduled to take place on March 30, 2020 in Rosemont, Illinois, however, on March 16, 2020, the draft was postponed indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic.
