The 2020 Sunshine Coast Gympie Rugby League season was to be the 101st season rugby league football in the area that is now the Sunshine Coast, Queensland.

The start to the season was disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, which was formally declared a pandemic on 11 March 2020. [1]

On June 16 it was reported that a number of clubs – including six Division 1 clubs – didn't nominate sides for the 2020 season by the June 15h deadline. [2] [3] The season was eventually cancelled. [4] [5] [6]

Out of our nine clubs with A Grade teams, six teams decided not to nominate teams this year.

The 2020 Sunshine Coast Rugby Union season is the ongoing 38th season of the Sunshine Coast based rugby union competition, having been founded for the 1982 season. There will be 10 clubs competing in the league, six of whom will contest A grade.

The 1982 Sunshine Coast Rugby Union season was the first season of rugby union organized specifically in the area that is now the Sunshine Coast, Queensland since 1919.
