The 2021 African & Oceania Wrestling Olympic Qualification Tournament was the third regional qualifying tournament for the 2020 Summer Olympics. The event was held from 2 to 4 April 2021, in Hammamet, Tunisia. [1]

Contents

Qualification summary

A total of 36 athletes secured a spot in the 2020 Summer Olympics, in Tokyo, Japan. Two spots were given to each of the weight classes in every event. This allows a total of 12 available spots for each event. Every winner and runner-up per class were awarded their place for wrestling, at the 2020 Summer Olympics. [2] Quota places are allocated to the respective NOC and not to competitor that achieved the place in the qualification event.

The top two competitors in each weight class qualified.

The 2016 World Wrestling Olympic Qualification Tournament 1 was the first of two worldwide qualification tournaments for the 2016 Olympics. Competitors at this tournament failed to qualify for the Olympics at the 2015 World Wrestling Championships or at their respective regional qualifier. The top three competitors in each weight class for the men and top two competitors for the women qualified.

Samar Amer Ibrahim Hamza is an Egyptian freestyle wrestler. She won the silver medal in the women's 76 kg event at the 2022 World Wrestling Championships held in Belgrade, Serbia. She became the first woman representing Egypt to reach a final at the World Wrestling Championships.

Mohamed Skander Missaoui is a Tunisian Greco-Roman wrestler. He represented Tunisia at the 2019 African Games held in Rabat, Morocco and he won the silver medal in the 87 kg event. He is also a six-time medalist at the African Wrestling Championships.

Berthe Emillene Etane Ngolle is a Cameroonian freestyle wrestler. She is a two-time silver medalist at the African Games. She won one of the bronze medals in the women's 62 kg event at the 2022 Commonwealth Games held in Birmingham, England. She also won the gold medal in her event at the 2022 African Wrestling Championships held in El Jadida, Morocco.

Gamal Abdelnaser Hanafy Mohamed is an Egyptian freestyle wrestler. In 2019, he represented Egypt at the African Games held in Rabat, Morocco and he won one of the bronze medals in the 57 kg event. He is a four-time medalist, including gold, at the African Wrestling Championships.

Maher Ghanmi is a Tunisian freestyle wrestler. He is a bronze medalist at the African Games and a five-time medalist at the African Wrestling Championships.

Fatoumata Yarie Camara is a Guinean freestyle wrestler. She represented Guinea at the 2019 African Games and she won the bronze medal in the women's freestyle 62 kg event. She won the silver medal in the 62 kg event at the 2021 Islamic Solidarity Games held in Konya, Turkey.
