The 2021 European Cadets Wrestling Championships (U17) was the 23rd edition of European Cadets Wrestling Championship of combined events, and took place from June 14 to 20 in Samokov, Bulgaria. [1] [2]

Hamza Yerlikaya is a Turkish Graeco-Roman style wrestler. He is a two-time Olympic champion, three-time World Champion, and the first Turkish wrestler to become European champion a record eight times, a feat that has since been matched by Rıza Kayaalp. He was named The Wrestler of the century in 1996 by the International Federation of Associated Wrestling Styles (FILA).
Sazhid Khalilrakhmanovich Sazhidov is a Russian Olympic wrestler who represented his country at the world-level from 2003 to 2006. He won the bronze medal at the 2004 Athens Olympics.

The European Wrestling Championships is the second oldest international wrestling competition of the modern world and the main wrestling championships in Europe. It predates World Wrestling Championships and other regional wrestling championships and is second only to the wrestling events at the Olympics. From its inception in 1898 till 1927 only Greco-Roman wrestling was contested. Since 1929 separate freestyle wrestling events were held as well. Since 1970 the two Olympic wrestling styles were contested together during the same unified events. Since 1973 Sambo wrestling was included into the championships programme along with GR and freestyle wrestling. Since 2014 associated traditional wrestling styles recognized globally by UWW were incorporated into the annual championships schedule.
Abdulrashid Bulachevich Sadulaev is a Russian freestyle wrestler who competes at 97 kilograms and formerly competed at 86 kilograms. Sadulaev is widely regarded as the most dominant active freestyle wrestler in the world.
Adam Alavdinovich Batirov is a Russian and Bahraini freestyle wrestler. He is a World Cadet Championships runner-up and Cadet European Champion (2002). He thrice won the Ivan Yarygin tournament and is National Russian Freestyle wrestling Champion (2007). In 2009, he won his first European Championships. At the 2016 Asian Wrestling Championships he won gold, beating Kumar Vinod of India in the final match. He is a 2018 World Championships runner-up.
The World U23 Wrestling Championships are the Amateur Wrestling World Championship for athletes under 23 years old and is organized by United World Wrestling. The tournament began in 2017.

Takuto Otoguro is a Japanese freestyle wrestler who competes at 65 kilograms. At the 2020 Summer Olympics, Otoguro claimed the gold medal after beating the likes of defending World Champion Gadzhimurad Rashidov and three-time World Champion Haji Aliyev. A Cadet World Champion, Otoguro first broke into the senior scene when he went undefeated (16–0) in 2018, claiming the World Championship and the National Championship at age 19. He then went on to become a two–time Asian Continental Champion.

Arvi Martin Savolainen is a Finnish Greco-Roman wrestler. He won the silver medal in the 97 kg event at the 2022 European Wrestling Championships held in Budapest, Hungary.
Turan Bayramov is an Azerbaijani freestyle wrestler who competes at 70 kilograms, and 74 kilograms. Bayramov claimed a silver medal from the 2021 European Championships (70kg), was the 2019 U23 World Champion and the 2018 Cadet World and Youth Olympic Champion, as well as a medalist at multiple high level age-group competitions.
Sergey Vadimovich Kozyrev is a Russian freestyle wrestler who competes at 125 kilograms. He broke into the senior level scene in 2021, when he claimed the Russian National Championship, earned silver at the European Continental Championships and qualified to compete at the 2020 Summer Olympics by winning the World Olympic Qualification Tournament. In the age–group, he became the 2018 Youth Olympic champion at 110 kilograms.
