The 2021 Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation election were held on 10 March 2021 to elect members to all 98 wards of the municipal corporation. [1] [2] The ruling YSRCP party was able to cross the magic figure and won the GVMC Elections 2021. Of 98 wards, YSRCP won 58 wards, TDP won 30 wards, Janasena Party won 4 wards, BJP won 1 ward, CPI, CPM 1 each and 3 wards are won by Independents. [3]

Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) is the civic body that governs the city of Visakhapatnam, largest city of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Its jurisdiction encompasses an area of 640 km2 (250 sq mi). It is also part of the planning body of the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority. Established in the year 1979, the executive power of the GVMC is vested in the Municipal Commissioner, an Indian Administrative Service officer appointed by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The position is held by Saikanth Varma. Golagani Hari Venkata Kumari (YSRCP) was elected as the Mayor and Jiyyani Sridhar (YSRCP) as the Deputy Mayor by the newly elected general body in March 2021. Panchumarthi Anuradha is an Indian Politician from Andhra Pradesh. She was elected as a Member of the Legislative Council on behalf of the Telugu Desam Party by MLA quota election. She was a former Mayor of Vijayawada in the state of Andhra Pradesh. She won the MLA quota MLC elections with two cross-votes from YSRCP MLAs and defeated the ruling party’s candidate. She joined TDP in 2000 and contested in Mayor elections of Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh and won 6800 majority votes.

Kambala Jogulu is an Indian politician from Andhra Pradesh. He won the 2019 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election on YSRCP ticket from Rajam constituency in Srikakulam district. He defeated Kondru Murali Mohan by a margin of 16,848 votes. YSRCP shifted him from Rajam to Payakaraopeta SC reserved seat for the 2024 elections. Tale Rajesh is nominated to contest from Rajam.

Chetti Palguna is an Indian politician from Andhra Pradesh. He won the 2019 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election on YSRCP ticket from Araku constituency in Alluri Sitharama Raju district. He defeated Donnu Dora Siyyari, an independent candidate by a margin of 25,441 votes.

Karanam Dharmasri is an Indian politician from Andhra Pradesh. He was a two time MLA from Chodavaram Assembly constituency in the erstwhile Visakhapatnam district.

Velagapudi Ramakrishna Babu is an Indian politician from Andhra Pradesh. He won the 2019 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election on Telugu Desam Party ticket from Visakhapatnam East constituency in the Visakhapatnam district. He is a four-time MLA from the Visakhapatnam East constituency. He won the 2024 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election from the same constituency again on TDP ticket.
