The 2021 Horizon League Softball tournament is being held at the YSU Softball Complex on the campus of Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio from May 13 through May 15, 2021. The tournament winner will earn the Horizon League's automatic bid to the 2021 NCAA Division I Softball Tournament [1]

The 2013 Horizon League Baseball Tournament was held from May 22–25. All five of the league's teams met in the double-elimination tournament held at Youngstown State University's Eastwood Field. Valparaiso won their second tournament championship and earned the conference's automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament.

The Kent State Golden Flashes softball team is an intercollegiate athletic team at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio, United States. The Flashes play in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division I level as a member of the Mid-American Conference (MAC) East Division. The head coach since the 2016 season is Eric Oakley. Home games are played at the Judith K. Devine Diamond, a 500-seat facility that opened in 1999. The Flashes also have an indoor practice facility, the David and Peggy Edmonds Baseball and Softball Training Facility, which opened in 2014.

The 2014 Horizon League Baseball Tournament was held from May 21–24. All six of the league's teams met in the double-elimination tournament held at Kapco Park on the campus of Concordia University Wisconsin in Milwaukee. Youngstown State won the tournament for the second time, earning the conference's automatic bid to the 2014 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament.

The 2015–16 Youngstown State Penguins men's basketball team represented Youngstown State University during the 2015–16 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Penguins, were led by eleventh year head coach Jerry Slocum, played their home games at the Beeghly Center and were members of the Horizon League. They finished the season 11–21, 6–12 in Horizon League play to finish in seventh place. They lost to Detroit in the first round of the Horizon League Tournament.

The Horizon League Softball Championship is the conference softball tournament of the NCAA Division I Horizon League in college softball. The four team double-elimination tournament is held at the home field of the regular season winner. In 2021, UIC won the title for the 10th time, most in conference history.

The 2016–17 Northern Kentucky Norse men's basketball team represented Northern Kentucky University (NKU) during the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Norse, led by second-year head coach John Brannen, played their home games at BB&T Arena in Highland Heights, Kentucky as members of the Horizon League. They finished the season 24–11, 13–6 in Horizon League play to finish in a tie for third place. As the No. 4 seed in the Horizon League Tournament, they defeated Wright State, Youngstown State, and Milwaukee to win the Horizon League Tournament. They received the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament in the school's first year of eligibility after its transition to a Division I school. They lost in the First Round to Kentucky.

They finished the regular season 13–21, 5–13 in Horizon League play to finish in a tie for eighth place. As the No. 9 seed in the Horizon League Tournament, they defeated Cleveland State and Oakland before losing to Northern Kentucky in the Semifinals.

The 2017–18 Cleveland State Vikings men's basketball team represented Cleveland State University in the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. They were coached by first-year head coach Dennis Felton. The Vikings played their home games at the Wolstein Center as members of the Horizon League. They finished the season 12–23, 6–12 in Horizon League play to finish in a tie for eighth place. As the No. 8 seed at the Horizon League Tournament, they defeated Youngstown State and upset No. 1 seed Northern Kentucky and No. 4 seed Oakland to advance to the championship game where they lost to Wright State.

The 2019–20 Youngstown State Penguins men's basketball team represented Youngstown State University in the 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Penguins, led by third-year head coach Jerrod Calhoun, played their home games at the Beeghly Center in Youngstown, Ohio as members of the Horizon League. They finished the season 18–15, 10–8 in Horizon League play to finish in a tie for fourth place. They defeated Milwaukee in the first round of the Horizon League Tournament before losing in the quarterfinals to UIC. They accepted and invitation to the CollegeIndsider.com Tournament. However, the CIT, and all other postseason tournaments, were cancelled amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2022 NCAA Division I softball season, part of college softball in the United States organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division I level, began in February 2022. The season progressed through the regular season, many conference tournaments and championship series, and concluded with the 2022 NCAA Division I Softball Tournament and 2022 Women's College World Series. The Women's College World Series, consisting of the eight remaining teams in the NCAA Tournament and held annually in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium, ended in June 2022.

The Penguins, led by fifth-year head coach Jerrod Calhoun, played their home games at the Beeghly Center in Youngstown, Ohio as members of the Horizon League. they finished the regular season 18–14, 12–9 in Horizon League play to finish in seventh place. They lost to Robert Morris in the first round of the Horizon League Tournament. The Penguins accepted an invitation to play in The Basketball Classic tournament, formerly known as the CollegeInsider.com Tournament.
