The 2021 Vuelta a Burgos was a men's road cycling stage race that took place from 3 to 7 August 2021 in the Spanish province of Burgos. It was the 43rd edition of the Vuelta a Burgos, and was rated as a 2.Pro event as part of the 2021 UCI Europe Tour and the 2021 UCI ProSeries calendars. [1] [2]

Teams

Thirteen of the nineteen UCI WorldTeams are joined by eight UCI ProTeams to make up the twenty-one teams that participated in the race. [3] [4] Bora–Hansgrohe and UAE Team Emirates, with six riders each, were the only teams not to enter a full squad of seven riders; in total, 146 riders started the race. 127 riders finished. [5]

The 28th Edition Vuelta a España, a long-distance bicycle stage race and one of the 3 grand tours, was held from April 26 to May 13, 1973. It consisted of 17 stages covering a total of 3,061 km, and was won by Eddy Merckx of the Molteni cycling team. As Merckx had already won several editions of the Tour de France and the Giro d'Italia with his win in the Vuelta, he became the third cyclist after Jacques Anquetil and Felice Gimondi to win all three grand tours in his career. Merckx went on to win the 1973 Giro d'Italia and became the first cyclist to win the Vuelta-Giro double. Merckx also won the points classification and José Luis Abilleira won the mountains classification. With Merckx finishing first, Ocaña second and Thévenet third the podium of the 1973 Vuelta contained one previous winner and two future winners of the Tour de France making it one of the best podiums in the history of the race, according to the official race website. Merckx won six stages in this edition and Gerben Karstens won four.

The 2011 Vuelta a Burgos was the 33rd edition of the Vuelta a Burgos, an annual bicycle race which tours the province of Burgos. Beginning in Villarcayo on 3 August, it concluded at the Lagunas de Neila on 7 August. The 646.6 km long stage race was part of the 2010–11 UCI Europe Tour, and was classified as a 2.HC event. Joaquim Rodríguez won the general classification, while his teammate Daniel Moreno secured a 1–2 victory for Team Katusha. Reigning champion Samuel Sánchez participated but finished fourth. Rodríguez also claimed the points classification title.

The 2014 Vuelta a Burgos was the 36th edition of the Vuelta a Burgos, an annual bicycle stage race which toured the province of Burgos; it was held as part of the 2014 UCI Europe Tour, as a 2.HC classification event.

The 2015 Vuelta a Castilla y León was the 30th edition of the Vuelta a Castilla y León cycling stage race. It started on 17 April in Ávila and ended on 19 April on the climb of Alto de Lubián, after three stages. The race was part of the 2015 UCI Europe Tour, and was rated as a 2.1 event. The defending champion was David Belda.

The 2015 Vuelta a Asturias was the 58th edition of the Vuelta a Asturias cycling stage race. It was the first edition since 2013, as the race did not take place in 2014 due to financial issues. The race was rated as a 2.1 event as part of the 2015 UCI Europe Tour. The race included two stages: it started on 2 May with a stage from Oviedo to Pola de Lena and finished on 3 May with a stage that started in Soto de Ribera and then finished back in Oviedo. The defending champion was Amets Txurruka.

The 2015 Vuelta a la Comunidad de Madrid was the 28th edition of the Vuelta a la Comunidad de Madrid cycling stage race. It started on 9 May in Colmenar Viejo and ended on 10 May in El Pardo.

The 2017 Vuelta a Asturias was the 60th edition of the Vuelta a Asturias cycling stage race, that took place over three stages from 29 April to 1 May 2017. The 2019 Vuelta a España was a three-week Grand Tour cycling stage race that took place in Spain, Andorra and France between 24 August and 15 September 2019. The race was the 74th edition of the Vuelta a España and is the final Grand Tour of the 2019 cycling season. The race started with a team time trial in Torrevieja on the Costa Blanca.

The 2021 season for Team Bahrain Victorious was the fifth season in the team's existence, all of which have been as a UCI WorldTeam. After just one year, British car manufacturer McLaren withdrew from its co-title sponsorship, citing a desire to "focus on motorsport after the uncertainty caused ... by the coronavirus pandemic." The team then took on the name of Victorious Stables, a horse racing stable owned by team owner Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, with the adjective serving as "a constant reminder of [the team's] goal to achieve success at the highest level both on and off the bike."

The 2023 Vuelta a Burgos was a men's road cycling stage race that took place from 15 to 19 August 2023 in the Spanish province of Burgos. It was the 45th edition of the Vuelta a Burgos, and was rated as a 2.Pro event as part of the 2023 UCI ProSeries calendar.
