Originally, it was planned that the teams finishing third to fifth would play each other in a round-robin of 45-minute matches.

However, following the withdrawal of Denmark, this was scratched and a full-length third place match was played.

The 2021–22 Liga 3 was first season of Portuguese football's third-tier league, following the reorganization which saw the Campeonato de Portugal moving one level down in the Portuguese football league system. First season, a total of 24 teams competed in this division.

The 2021–22 Campeonato de Portugal was the ninth season of Portuguese football's recreated fourth-tier league, since the merging of the Segunda Divisão and Terceira Divisão in 2013, and the seventh season under the current Campeonato de Portugal title. After the creation of Liga 3, the new third-tier league in 2021, this was also the first season of Campeonato Portugal as the fourth-tier league in Portuguese football league system, the 24th overall at that level. This edition was contested by 61 clubs.

The 2021 Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira was the 43rd edition of the Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira. The 2022 Campeonato Paranaense was the 108th edition of the top division of football in the state of Paraná organized by FPF. The competition started on 22 January and ended on 3 April. Londrina were the defending champions but were eliminated in the quarter-finals.
