The 2022 Army Black Knights men's lacrosse team represent the United States Military Academy in the 2022 NCAA Division I men's lacrosse season. The Black Knights are led by seventeenth-year head coach Joe Alberici and play their home games at Michie Stadium in West Point, New York. Army competes as a member of the Patriot League.

Previous season

The Black Knights finished the 2021 season 7–4 overall, 5–2 in the Patriot League, losing in the conference semifinal to Loyola and failing to make the NCAA tournament.

The Patriot League released their preseason poll on January 31, 2022 (voting was by conference head coaches and sports information directors). The Black Knights were picked to finish in third place and garnered two first-place votes. [1]

Preseason All-Patriot League team

The Black Knights had four players picked to the preseason All-Patriot League team, placing the second-most in the conference. Additionally, three Black Knights garnered major award accolades: senior attack Brendan Nichtern was selected as the 2022 Patriot League Men's Lacrosse Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, senior defender Marcus Hudgins was selected as the 2022 Patriot League Men's Lacrosse Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, and senior goalie Wyatt Schupler was selected as the 2022 Patriot League Men's Lacrosse Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year. Matt Danowski is a former professional lacrosse Attackman who played in Major League Lacrosse (MLL) and the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) for 12 seasons. He finished his career with the Chrome Lacrosse Club, announcing his retirement on February 22, 2021. He previously played for the Chesapeake Bayhawks, Charlotte Hounds, New York Lizards, and the New Jersey Pride. Danowski also spent four seasons playing professional indoor lacrosse in the National Lacrosse League for the Colorado Mammoth, Rochester Knighthawks and Philadelphia Wings. He was a four-time college All-American at Duke University, won the Tewaaraton Trophy in 2007, and was the NCAA Division I all-time leading scorer at the time of his graduation with 353 points. He is now fifth all-time on that list behind Lyle Thompson (400), Pat Spencer (380), Connor Fields (364), and Rob Pannell (354).

Ben Rubeor is a former professional lacrosse player and coach. He was the Head Coach for Atlas Lacrosse Club of the Premier Lacrosse League from 2020-2022. Rubeor previously played for the Chesapeake Bayhawks & Long Island Lizards in Major League Lacrosse. He was one of the nation's top collegiate lacrosse players at the University of Virginia. Ben also currently serves as the men's varsity head lacrosse coach and assistant admissions director at Thayer Academy in Braintree, Massachusetts.

Frank Resetarits is a lacrosse player from Hamburg, New York. As a high school player Resitarits ranks in the top three players all-time for points in a career. He played forward for the Buffalo Bandits of the National Lacrosse League and attack for the Long Island Lizards of Major League Lacrosse. He was drafted fifth overall in the 2007 NLL entry draft by the San Jose Stealth.

Matt Striebel is a former professional lacrosse midfielder who played professional field lacrosse in the Major League Lacrosse (MLL) for the New York Lizards and formerly played professional box lacrosse in the National Lacrosse League (NLL). He starred as a member of the Princeton Tigers men's lacrosse team from 1998 through 2001 and the Princeton Tigers men's soccer team from 1997 through 2000.

Wes Green is a professional lacrosse player with the Denver Outlaws of Major League Lacrosse and the Washington Stealth of the National Lacrosse League. Originally from the West Torrens Lacrosse Club in Adelaide, South Australia, Green played on the Australian National Team in the 2006 World Games in London. Wes Green played his college ball at Adelphi University where he Earned several honours during his senior season (2006) at Adelphi, including: USILA Lt. Raymond J. Enners Award, USILA Lt. Col. J.I. Turnbull Award, First Team All-American, ECC Player of the Year, First Team All-Conference, ECC Scholar-Athlete of the Year and Inside Lacrosse Magazine First Team Preseason All-American. Green now plays in the Victorian state league and coaches at Williamstown Lacrosse Club in Melbourne. He played 14 games in 2010 for Williamstown in the State league and scored 37 goals with a high scoring game of 9 goals.

The Albany Great Danes men's lacrosse team represents the University at Albany in NCAA Division I men's college lacrosse. Albany currently competes in the America East Conference and plays its home games on Bob Ford Field at Tom & Mary Casey Stadium. The team has reached the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championship tournament ten times. The Great Danes are currently coached by Scott Marr.

During the 1960s, a period of dominance for the Midshipmen, they won eight consecutive titles. The program's main rivals include Army, Maryland, and Johns Hopkins.

North Carolina currently competes as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and plays its home games at Fetzer Field and Kenan Memorial Stadium in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Their main rivalry series is with fellow ACC member Duke.

The Denver Pioneers men's lacrosse team represents the University of Denver (DU) in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college lacrosse. The DU men's lacrosse program was first introduced in 1966 as a club sport. The program alternated between varsity and club status until entering Division I in 1999.

Ryan DeForest Mollett is a finance executive and a retired lacrosse defenseman who played professional field lacrosse in Major League Lacrosse (MLL). He starred as a member of the Princeton Tigers men's lacrosse team from 1998 through 2001, where he was the best NCAA lacrosse defenseman in the nation, the Ivy League player of the year, a two-time United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) All-American, two-time All-Ivy League first team selection and a member of two national champion teams. During his time at Princeton, the team qualified for the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championship all four years, reached the championship game three times, won the championship game twice and won four Ivy League championships. He was a member of Team USA at the 2002 World Lacrosse Championship. He was the first collegiate player ever drafted in the MLL and became an MLL All-Star player.

The Lehigh Mountain Hawks men's lacrosse team represents Lehigh University in NCAA Division I college lacrosse. The Mountain Hawks play their home games at Frank Banko Field, which is part of a complex that also includes Lehigh's soccer and field hockey venues.

Connor Fields is a Canadian-American professional lacrosse player who plays for Archers Lacrosse Club of the Premier Lacrosse League and the Rochester Knighthawks of the National Lacrosse League. He played college lacrosse at the University at Albany, where he was an All-American all four years. He was drafted by the San Diego Seals in the 2018 National Lacrosse League Entry Draft. He was also drafted in Major League Lacrosse by the Charlotte Hounds in 2018.
