The 2022 China-Arab States Summit was the 1st summit of the heads of state and representatives of 21 countries of the Arab League, and the head of state of the People's Republic of China. It was held on 9 December 2022, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. [1] [2] [3]
In March 2021, the 155th session of the League of Arab States Council at the level of foreign ministers adopted a resolution on strengthening relations with China, one of the key elements of which was to once again welcome the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's hosting of the inaugural Arab-China Summit. [4] [5]
In December 2022, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a report on China-Arab Cooperation in the New Era, which stated that China is willing to take the convening of the first China-Arab Summit as an opportunity to build a China-Arab community of destiny facing the new era together with Arab countries, and to jointly safeguard the cause of world peace and development. On December 7, 2022, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying announced that at the invitation of King Salman of Saudi Arabia, President Xi Jinping will go to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from December 7 to 10 to attend the first China-Arab Summit, the summit of the China-Gulf Cooperation Council for the Arab States, and pay a state visit to Saudi Arabia. In addition to the visiting President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping, the participating leaders were Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud of Saudi Arabia, President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt, King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein of Jordan, King Hamad bin Isa bin Salman Al Khalif of Bahrain, Crown Prince Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah of Kuwait, President Kais Saied of Tunisia, President Ismail Omar Guelleh of Djibouti, President Mahmoud Abbas of Palestine, Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar, President Azali Assoumani of Comoros, President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani of Mauritania, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al Sudani of Iraq, Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch of Morocco, Prime Minister Aïmene Benabderrahmane of Algeria, and Prime Minister Najib Mikati of Lebanon, as well as Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit of the Arab League and heads of other international organizations. On the afternoon of December 7, 2022, President Xi arrived in Riyadh. On December 9, the first China-Arab Summit was held at the King Abdulaziz International Convention Center in the Riyadh. President Xi Jinping attended the summit and delivered a keynote speech. [10] At the first China-Arab Summit, Xi proposed "eight common actions" for China-Arab practical cooperation. The summit issued the Riyadh Declaration of the First China-Arab Summit, announcing that China and the Arab countries agreed to make every effort to build a China-Arab community of destiny for the new era. [11] The Summit issued the Outline of the Comprehensive Cooperation Program between the People's Republic of China and the Arab States and the Document on Deepening the Sino-Arab Strategic Partnership for Peace and Development. On the morning of Dec. 10, President Xi Jinping departed for his home country after attending the China-Arab Summit, the China-Gulf Arab States Cooperation Council Summit and paying a state visit to Saudi Arabia. [14]
The Forum on China–Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) is an official forum between the People's Republic of China and all states in Africa with the exception of the Kingdom of Eswatini. It is the primary multi-lateral coordination mechanism between African countries and China and since 2018 is viewed by those countries as a cooperation platform within the Belt and Road Initiative.

Leaders and representatives of 54 Arab and Muslim countries, all members of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, and the United States took part. Iran and Turkey boycotted the summit, and Syria was not invited.
The 2020 G20 Riyadh summit was the fifteenth meeting of the Group of Twenty (G20). It was scheduled to take place in Riyadh, the capital city of Saudi Arabia. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was held virtually.

The 2022 Arab League summit, officially the 31st Ordinary Session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the Summit Level, was held at its 31st session in Algiers. This was the fourth time the city hosted this event. All Arab countries were represented at the event, with the exception of Syria, which has been suspended since 2011 due to the ongoing crisis. The summit was postponed several times before its date was confirmed on 1 November 2022. It was initially to be held in 2020, 2021 and finally March 2022. But due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was postponed to November to coincide with the anniversary of the outbreak of the Algerian Revolution. The summit was also the first since a number of countries normalized relations with Israel, causing a schism in the Arab position, which had remained united over what was stipulated in the Beirut 2002 initiative.
On 20–22 March 2023, Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Chinese Communist Party and Chinese president, visited Russia, in his first international meeting since his re-election as president during the 2023 National People's Congress.
The 2023 France–China summit was a three-day state visit by Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, to China from April 5 to 7, 2023. It was Macron's first visit to China since the COVID-19 pandemic and his third since taking office in 2017. He was accompanied by a delegation of more than 50 CEOs and met with members of the French business community in China. He also met with Xi Jinping, the General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party and President of China, and Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission, to discuss various issues. By recalling the solid foundation of China-France relations and the friendship between the two peoples, the two heads of state had an in-depth exchange of views on bilateral relations, China-EU relations and major international and regional issues, especially the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine and China's potential role as a mediator between Russia and the West. The visit was seen as an attempt to "reconnect" with China after three years of its zero-Covid policy and despite Beijing's increasing benevolence to Russia in the context of the Russo-Ukrainian war.
China-Central Asia Summit is a diplomatic summit held by the leaders of the People's Republic of China and the five Central Asian countries. The first China-Central Asia Summit was held at the Xi'an International Conference Center in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province from May 18 to 19, 2023. Xi Jinping, the paramount leader of China, presided over the summit, and the heads of state of the five Central Asian countries attended the summit.
From May 28 to May 31, 2024, the President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan (MBZ) visited South Korea and China for the first time as UAE Head of State.
President of Peru Dina Boluarte pays a state visit to China to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping during June 25, 2024 to June 29, 2024. The visit resulted in the signing of a number of China-Peru cooperation agreements, and the two sides expect China to bring more new technologies into Peru and make the cooperation between China and Peru a model of China-Latin America cooperation.
From September 14 to 16, 2022, Chinese President and General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party Xi Jinping attends the 22nd meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states in Samarkand, and pay state visits to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan at the invitation of the Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
At the invitation of President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, President of the United Republic of Tanzania Jakaya Kikwete, President of the Republic of South Africa Jacob Zuma and President of the Republic of the Congo Denis Sassou Nguesso, the President of China and General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party Xi Jinping left Beijing on the morning of March 22 to pay a state visit to these four countries and attend the 5th BRICS summit held in Durban, South Africa. The trip is also Xi's first foreign state visit since he became the Paramount leader of China in November 2012.
At the invitation of the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyễn Phú Trọng and President of Vietnam Võ Văn Thưởng, Xi Jinping, the General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party and President of China, paid a state visit to Vietnam during December 12-13, 2023. The two sides agreed to issue the Joint Declaration on Further Deepening and Upgrading the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and Building a Strategic Community of Destiny between China and Vietnam.
At the invitation of the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Trần Đại Quang, President of China and General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party Xi Jinping went to Da Nang, Vietnam, from November 10–11, 2017, to attend the APEC Vietnam 2017. Then, General Secretary Xi Jinping paid a state visit to Vietnam and the Laos from November 12–14, 2017. This is the first state visit by the top leaders of the Chinese Communist Party and State after the 19th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party.
President of China and General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party Xi Jinping visited Lima, Peru, at the request of President of Peru Dina Boluarte, to participate in the 31st Informal Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Leaders' Meeting and conduct a state visit from November 13 to 17, 2024. At the behest of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva of the Federative Republic of Brazil, President Xi also paid a visit to Rio de Janeiro from November 17 to 21 to participate in the 2024 G20 Rio de Janeiro summit and conduct a state visit to Brazil.
