The 2022 FIBA U15 Women's South American Championship was the 23rd edition of the South American basketball championship for women's under-15 national teams. The tournament was played at CEO 2 in Santiago, Chile, from 23 to 27 November 2022. [1]
In the first round, the teams were drawn into two groups of four. The first two teams from each group advanced to the semifinals; the third and fourth teams advanced to the 5th–8th place playoffs.

Qualified for the 2023 FIBA Under-16 Women's Americas Championship |
Basketball at the 2004 Summer Olympics was the sixteenth appearance of the sport of basketball as an official Olympic medal event. It took place at the Helliniko Olympic Indoor Arena, a part of the Hellinikon Olympic Complex, in Athens, for the preliminary rounds, with the later stages being held in the Olympic Indoor Hall at the Athens Olympic Sports Complex.

The FIBA Under-16 AmeriCup, previously known as the FIBA Under-16 Americas Championship, is the Americas basketball championship for under-16 national teams that takes place every two years in the FIBA Americas zone. The event started in 2009. The top four finishers qualify for the FIBA Under-17 Basketball World Cup.
The 2011 FIBA Americas Championship for Women was the qualifying tournament for FIBA Americas at the women's basketball tournament at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. The tournament was held at Coliseo Álvaro Sánchez Silva in Neiva, Colombia from September 24 to October 1. It was the first FIBA Americas Championship for Women to have 10 countries competing.
The South American Under-15 Championship for Women is a basketball tournament held about every two years among the ten countries of South America and is organized in part by FIBA Americas. The tournament serves as a gateway to the FIBA Under-16 Women's AmeriCup. Through 2022, the tournament had been held 23 times.
The 2013 FIBA Americas Championship for Women was the qualifying tournament for FIBA Americas at the 2014 FIBA World Championship for Women in Turkey. The tournament was held at the Gimnasio USBI in Xalapa, Mexico from 21 to 28 September 2013.

The 1993 FIBA Americas Championship for Women, was the second FIBA Americas Championship for Women regional basketball championship held by FIBA Americas, which also served as Americas qualifier for the 1994 FIBA World Championship for Women, granting berths to the top four teams in the final standings. It was held in Brazil between 26 June and 4 July 1993. Eight national teams entered the event under the auspices of FIBA Americas, the sport's regional governing body. The city of São Paulo hosted the tournament. The United States won their first title after defeating hosts Brazil in the final.
The 2015 FIBA Americas Championship for Women, held in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, was the qualifying tournament for FIBA Americas at the 2016 Summer Olympics Basketball Tournament in Brazil. The champion qualified directly for the Olympics.
The Argentina men's national under-15, under-16 and under-17 basketball team is a national basketball team of Argentina, administered by the Confederación Argentina de Basquetbol. It represents the country in international men's under-15, under-16 and under-17 basketball competitions.
The 2017 FIBA Women's Asia Cup was the qualifying tournament for FIBA Asia and FIBA Oceania at the 2018 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup in Spain. The tournament was held from 23 to 29 July in Bangalore, India. Before this edition, the tournament was known as the FIBA Asia Championship for Women, and only involved FIBA Asia members. FIBA Oceania teams Australia and New Zealand, as well as Fiji competed in the tournament for the first time.

It was played from 30 July to 7 August 2022 in Sofia, Bulgaria. Slovenia women's national under-18 basketball team won the tournament.
