The 2022 Idemitsu Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by BF Goodrich was a single-make motor racing championship, the 18th season of the Mazda MX-5 Cup and the 2nd under a new sanctioning agreement with the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA). The series began on January 27 at Daytona International Speedway, and concluded on October 1 at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta after 14 rounds. Jared Thomas won the driver's championship by a narrow margin of 10 points over Connor Zilisch, who was awarded Rookie of the Year. Hixon Motor Sports earned the entrant's championship.

Schedule

The schedule was announced on August 6, 2021, featuring 14 rounds across seven double-header weekends. [1] All races are 45 minutes in length.

Mazda MX-5 Cup is the professional Spec Miata series of Mazda Motorsports, promoted by Andersen Promotions. The pro Spec Miata series has its roots in 2003, but a unified national championship was launched in 2006.

The series began on January 28 at Daytona International Speedway, and concluded on November 12 at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta after 14 rounds. Gresham Wagner won the driver's championship, earning Spark Performance the entrant's championship as well. Sam Paley won the Rookie of the Year championship with McCumbee McAleer Racing.

Mason Filippi is an American auto racing driver who competes in the TCR class of the Michelin Pilot Challenge for Bryan Herta Autosport. He previously raced for Bryan Herta Autosport, finishing the Michelin Pilot Challenge in second place in 2019 and third in 2020. Filippi also piloted touring cars in the TC America Series and the Pirelli World Challenge from 2017 to 2019, finishing in the top five of the standings each season. Under that agreement, Zilisch competes in select races across multiple racing series, including the NASCAR Xfinity Series, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, the ARCA Menards Series, the CARS Tour, the Trans-Am Series, the IMSA SportsCar Championship and the Global MX-5 Cup.

The 2024 Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup Presented By Michelin is a single-make motor racing championship, the 20th season of the Mazda MX-5 Cup and the 4th under a new sanctioning agreement with the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA). The series will begin on January 24 at Daytona International Speedway, and will conclude on October 11 at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta after 14 rounds. Jared Thomas is the defending champion.
