The Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10) is a collegiate athletic conference whose schools compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association's (NCAA) Division I. The A-10's member schools are located in states mostly on the United States Eastern Seaboard, as well as some in the Midwest: Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia, Ohio, Illinois, and Missouri as well as in the District of Columbia. Although some of its members are state-funded, half of its membership is made up of private, Catholic institutions. Despite the name, there are 15 full-time members, and four affiliate members that participate in women's field hockey and men's lacrosse. The current commissioner is Bernadette McGlade, who began her tenure in 2008.
The Rhode Island Rams are the athletic programs of the University of Rhode Island, based in Kingston, Rhode Island, United States. The Rams compete in the NCAA's Division I as a member of the Atlantic 10 Conference. The football team, however, competes in the Colonial Athletic Association of the NCAA's Football Championship Subdivision, as the A-10 does not sponsor football. The program's athletic director is Thorr Bjorn.

The program has been a member of the NCAA Division I Atlantic 10 Conference since the start of the 1981 season. Since the 1966 season, the program has played at Bill Beck Field, located on the university's campus. The program has appeared in two NCAA Tournaments. It has won two conference tournaments, three regular season conference titles, and three regular season division titles. Three former Rams have appeared in Major League Baseball.

It is home to the Rhode Island Rams baseball team, a member of the NCAA Division I Atlantic 10 Conference. The field was built in 1966 and is named after former Rams baseball and football coach Bill Beck. It has a capacity of 1,000 spectators.
Frank Leoni is an American baseball coach, currently the head baseball coach of the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers. He played college baseball at Rhode Island from 1988–1991. He then served as head coach at William & Mary Tribe (2006–2012), the Rhode Island Rams (1993–2005) and the Marymount Saints (2014–2021).

The 2014 NCAA Division I baseball season, play of college baseball in the United States organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division I level, began on February 14, 2014. The season progressed through the regular season, many conference tournaments and championship series, and concluded with the 2014 NCAA Division I baseball tournament and 2014 College World Series. The College World Series, consisting of the eight remaining teams in the NCAA tournament and held annually in Omaha, Nebraska, at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha, ended on June 25, 2014 with the final game of the best-of-three championship series between Vanderbilt and Virginia, won by Vanderbilt.
The 2005 Atlantic 10 Conference Baseball Championship was held from May 25 through 28 at Fifth Third Field in Dayton, OH. It featured the top two regular-season finishers of each six-team division, plus the next two best finishers. Top-seeded Rhode Island defeated George Washington in the title game to win the tournament for the first time, earning the Atlantic 10's automatic bid to the 2005 NCAA Tournament.
The 2014 Atlantic 10 Men's Soccer Tournament, known as the 2014 Atlantic 10 Men's Soccer Tournament Presented by Amtrak for sponsorship reasons, was the eighteenth edition of the tournament. Held from Nov. 13-16, it determined the Atlantic 10 Conference's automatic berth into the 2014 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship.

The 2016–17 Rhode Island Rams basketball team represented the University of Rhode Island during the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Rams, led by fifth-year head coach Dan Hurley, played their home games at the Ryan Center in Kingston, Rhode Island as members of the Atlantic 10 Conference. They finished the season 25–10, 13–5 in A-10 play to finish in a tie for third place. In the A-10 tournament, they defeated St. Bonaventure, Davidson, and VCU to win the A-10 Tournament championship. As a result, they received the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. They received a No. 11 seed in the Midwest region where they defeated No. 6-seeded Creighton in the first round before losing to No. 3-seeded Oregon in the second round.

The Rams, led by sixth-year head coach Dan Hurley, played their home games at the Ryan Center in Kingston, Rhode Island as members of the Atlantic 10 Conference. They finished the season 26–8, 15–3 in A-10 play to finish win the A-10 regular season championship. They defeated VCU and Saint Joseph's to advance to the championship game of the A-10 tournament where they lost to Davidson. They received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament where they defeated Oklahoma in the first round before losing in the second round to Duke.

The 2021–22 Rhode Island Rams basketball team represented the University of Rhode Island during the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Rams, led by fourth-year head coach David Cox, played their home games at the Ryan Center in Kingston, Rhode Island as members of the Atlantic 10 Conference. They finished the season 15–16, 5–12 in A-10 play to finish in 11th place. They defeated Duquesne in the first round of the A-10 tournament before losing to Richmond in the second round.
The 1987–88 Rhode Island Rams men's basketball team represented the University of Rhode Island as a member of the Atlantic 10 Conference during the 1987–88 college basketball season. The team was led by second-year head coach Tom Penders and played their home games at Keaney Gymnasium. They finished the season 28–7, 14–4 in A-10 play and lost in the championship game of the 1988 Atlantic 10 men's basketball tournament. Rhode Island was invited to the 1988 NCAA tournament as No. 11 seed in the East region and make the school's first run to the Sweet Sixteen. In the opening round, they upset No. 6 seed Missouri, and followed that by knocking off No. 3 seed Syracuse in the round of 32. In the East regional semifinal, the Rams narrowly lost to Duke, 73–72. To date, this season marks one of only two appearances by the Rams in the Sweet Sixteen of an NCAA Tournament (1998).
The 2021 Atlantic 10 Conference men's soccer tournament was the postseason men's soccer tournament for the Atlantic 10 Conference held from November 6 through November 14, 2021. The quarterfinals of the tournament were held at campus sites, while the semifinals and final took place at Hermann Stadium in Saint Louis, Missouri. The eight-team single-elimination tournament consisted of three rounds based on seeding from regular season conference play. The defending tournament champions were the Fordham Rams. Fordham was unable to defend their title, falling to Saint Louis in the Semifinals. Saint Louis would go on to win the tournament, defeating Duquesne 2–1 in the Final. This was the Billikens' third overall tournament title, and the first for head coach Kevin Kalish. As tournament champions, Saint Louis earned the Atlantic 10's automatic berth into the 2021 NCAA Division I men's soccer tournament.
