Irina-Camelia Begu is a Romanian tennis player. She reached a career-high WTA singles ranking of world No. 22, in August 2016. Two years later, she reached her highest ranking in doubles, also No. 22. Begu has won five singles titles and nine doubles titles on the WTA Tour. She also has won three singles titles on the WTA Challenger Tour, with 12 singles and 19 doubles titles on the ITF Women's Circuit.

Teliana Pereira was the defending champion, but lost in the first round to Lyudmyla Kichenok.

Kiki Bertens was the two-time defending champion, but lost in the quarterfinals to Kirsten Flipkens.

This was the first edition of the tournament.

Garbiñe Muguruza defeated Barbora Krejčíková in the final, 7–6(8–6), 6–3 to win the women's singles tennis event at the 2021 Dubai Tennis Championships. Muguruza dropped just one set during the tournament, to Aryna Sabalenka in the quarterfinals.

Simona Halep was the defending champion, having won the previous edition in 2013, but chose not to participate.

This was the first edition of the tournament.

Ons Jabeur defeated Jessica Pegula in the final, 7–5, 0–6, 6–2 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2022 Madrid Open. It was her first WTA 1000 title, and she became the first Arab and African woman to win a WTA 1000 title.

Irina-Camelia Begu defeated Lucia Bronzetti in the final, 6–2, 6–2 to win the singles tennis title at the 2022 Internazionali Femminili di Palermo. It was her fifth career WTA Tour singles title, her first since 2017. Bronzetti was contesting her first career singles final.

Mayar Sherif defeated Maria Sakkari in the final, 7–5, 6–3 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2022 Emilia-Romagna Open. It was her maiden WTA Tour title, and Sherif became the first Egyptian to win a WTA Tour singles title.

This was the first WTA 125 tournament in Cali since 2013. Lara Arruabarrena was the champion when the event was last held, but she retired from professional tennis in August 2022.

Aryna Sabalenka defeated Iga Świątek in the final, 6–3, 3–6, 6–3 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2023 Madrid Open. It was her fifth WTA 1000 title. This marked the first time since 2013 that the top two seeds contested the Madrid Open final. It was also the first time since 2000 that the top two players on the WTA Tour contested back-to-back finals, after Świątek won in Stuttgart the week prior.

Zheng Qinwen defeated Jasmine Paolini in the final, 6–4, 1–6, 6–1 to win the singles tennis title at the 2023 Internazionali Femminili di Palermo. It was Zheng's first WTA Tour singles title, and she was the first Chinese player to win the singles title at Palermo.

The defending champion Ana Bogdan won her second consecutive women's singles title at the 2023 Iași Open, defeating Irina-Camelia Begu in the final, 6–2, 6–3.

Sara Sorribes Tormo defeated Ekaterina Alexandrova in the final, 3–6, 6–4, 6–4 to win the singles title at the 2023 Tennis in the Land. She won the title as a lucky loser, becoming just the sixth player in WTA Tour history to do so and the third within a five-week span.

Ajla Tomljanović won the singles title at the 2023 MundoTenis Open, defeating Martina Capurro Taborda in the final, 6–1, 7–5. She saved four match points in her second-round match against İpek Öz en route to her maiden WTA 125 title.

Iga Świątek defeated defending champion Aryna Sabalenka in a rematch of the previous year's final, 7–5, 4–6, 7–6(9–7) to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2024 Madrid Open. She saved three championship points en route to her ninth WTA 1000 and 20th career WTA Tour title.

The 2024 Cali Open WTA 125 was a professional tennis tournament played on outdoor clay courts. It was the ninth edition of the tournament and part of the 2024 WTA 125 tournaments. It took place at the Club Campestre in Cali, Colombia between 4 and 9 November 2024.

Weronika Falkowska and Katarzyna Kawa were the reigning champions, but Falkowska chose not to participate and Kawa chose to compete in Midland instead.
