The 2024 FIBA Men's Pre-Qualifying Olympic Qualifying Tournaments in Europe was one of five 2024 FIBA Men's Pre-Qualifying Olympic Qualifying Tournaments. The tournament was held from 12 to 20 August 2023. [1] [2] Two tournaments were held, with the winning team of each tournament qualifying for the 2024 FIBA Men's Olympic Qualifying Tournaments. Gliwice, Poland and Tallinn, Estonia hosted the first tournament and Istanbul, Turkey hosted the second one.
Poland and Croatia were the winners of the tournaments, defeating Bosnia and Herzegovina and Turkey respectively in the finals. [3] [4]
Teams that missed out on the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup and the next best-ranked team will participate. [5]

Basketball at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan was held from 24 July to 8 August 2021. The basketball competitions were held at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, while the debuting 3x3 competitions were held at the temporary Aomi Urban Sports Park in Tokyo.
The men's basketball tournament at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, began on 6 August and ended on 21 August. The gold medal game in this discipline was the final competitive event before the Closing Ceremony. The United States won their fifteenth gold medal, after defeating Serbia, 96–66, in the gold medal match, which was the largest margin of victory in a gold medal game since the 1992 Summer Olympics.

The 2016 FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Belgrade was one of three 2016 FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournaments for Men. The tournament was held at the Kombank Arena in Belgrade, Serbia, from 4 to 9 July 2016. The national teams of hosts Serbia, Angola, Puerto Rico, Japan, the Czech Republic, and Latvia were drawn into tournament. The winner qualified for the 2016 Summer Olympics.
The men's basketball tournament at the 2020 Summer Olympics was the 20th edition of the event for men at the Summer Olympic Games. It was held from 25 July to 7 August 2021. All games were played at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.
The EuroBasket 2022 qualification was a basketball competition that was played from November 2017 to February 2021, to determine the 20 FIBA Europe nations who would join the automatically qualified co-hosts Czech Republic, Georgia, Italy, and Germany at the EuroBasket 2022 finals tournament.
The 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup qualification process determined 30 of the 32 teams that qualified for the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup. As co-hosts, the Philippines and Japan each got an automatic qualification for the tournament when they were awarded the joint hosting rights along with co-host Indonesia.
The 2016 Serbia OQT basketball team represented Serbia and won the spot for the 2016 Summer Olympics at the FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournament in their capital, Belgrade. They were qualified for the Qualification tournament by taking the 4th place in the EuroBasket 2015. The team was coached by Aleksandar Đorđević, with assistant coaches Miroslav Nikolić, Milan Minić and Jovica Antonić.
Twelve teams qualified for the women's basketball at the 2020 Summer Olympics tournament. The host nation and the 2018 World Cup winner qualified. Those two teams, however, had to play in the pre-qualifying and qualifying tournaments and took one of the qualifying spots from those tournaments. Thus, while two of the World Qualifying Tournaments provided quota spots to their three top teams, the other two tournaments provided quota spots only to the top two teams plus either the host nation or the World Cup winner.
The 2020 FIBA Men's Olympic Qualifying Tournaments were the four basketball tournaments that were contested by 23 national teams, where the top teams earned a place in the 2020 Summer Olympics basketball tournament.
