The 2024 Football Victoria season was the 113th season of competitive association football in Victoria. [1]

The premier of the top tier of Victorian football was South Melbourne, which would later lose 1-0 to Oakleigh Cannons in the NPL Victoria Grand Final, making Oakleigh the 2024 NPL Victoria champions. [2] [3] South Melbourne also beat Oakleigh 5–4 on penalties after a 0–0 score line to win the 2024 Dockerty Cup. [4] [5]

Melbourne Victory Youth was crowned VPL 1 Champion, gained promotion alongside Preston Lions. [8] Werribee City and North Geelong Warriors were relegated to VPL 2.

Cup Competitions

2024 Dockerty Cup

Football Victoria clubs competed in 2024 for the Dockerty Cup . The tournament doubled as the Victorian qualifiers for the 2024 Australia Cup, with the top five clubs progressing to the Round of 32. A total of 219 clubs entered the qualifying phase, with the clubs entering in a staggered format. [12]

The Cup was won by South Melbourne for the ninth time. [4]

In addition to the three A-League clubs (Melbourne Victory, Melbourne City and Western United), four NPL Victoria teams (Heidelberg United, Hume City, South Melbourne, and Oakleigh Cannons), and one VPL 2 team (Melbourne Serbija) competed in the final rounds of the 2024 Australia Cup.

The club has won the Victorian Premier League on 5 occasions in seasons 1995, 1996, 1997, 2008 and 2009. In 2019, Altona made a return to the National Premier Leagues Victoria, following successive promotions in 2017 via the Victorian State League Division 1 and again in 2018 via National Premier Leagues Victoria 2 (West), both seasons Magic were crowned champions.

The club, established by members of Oakleigh's Greek Australian community, currently competes in the NPL Victoria. The club's home ground is at Jack Edwards Reserve, on Edward Street, Oakleigh.

Preston Lions Football Club is a semi-professional soccer club from Preston, a northern suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The club was established in 1947 to play non-professional soccer matches against other teams in the local community until 1959, and 12 years later, they joined the Victorian Soccer Federation, the club's first season in an officially sanctioned competition. The club won promoted in 2022 from NPL 3 Victoria and in 2024 from VPL 1 to return top flight football Victoria NPL in 2025. The Lions currently compete in the NPL Victoria competition, which is the third tier in the Australian soccer league system.The club won the VPL/NPL Victoria in seasons 1980, 1994, 2002 and 2007.

Melbourne Victory Football Club Youth is the youth system of Melbourne Victory based in Melbourne, Victoria. The team plays in the National Premier Leagues, the second level of Australia's soccer pyramid in Australia. The club also competes in the under-23s Y-League competition.

The 2023 season is the 112th season of competitive association football in Victoria. The Premier and champion of the top tier of Victorian football was Avondale FC. Oakleigh Cannons would beat Heidelberg United 3-0 to win the 2023 Dockerty Cup.

The 2022 season is the 111th season of competitive association football in Victoria. The Premier of the top tier of Victorian football was South Melbourne and the Champions being Oakleigh Cannons.

The 2024 National Premier Leagues Victoria was the 116th season of the National Premier Leagues Victoria (NPL), a regional Australian soccer competition based in Victoria, and the 11th season since the competition was renamed. The season began on 8 February and concluded on 7 September 2024.
