Tomio Okamura founded the party in 2015 after he split from Dawn. He was elected party's leader the same year. [1] Okamura led the party during 2021 legislative election during which it received 9.5% and 20 seasts of 200. [2] Leadership election was scheduled for 13 April 2024. Tomio Okamura announced he will seek reelection. [3]
Voting is held in DUO Hotel. 250 delegates are allowed to vote. [4] [5] 223 delegates eventually participated, 216 of them voted. Okamura received 195 votes and thus was reelected. [6]
Okamura 90.28% vote share was his lowest vote share in a leadership election.

The Civic Democratic Party is a conservative and Eurosceptic political party in the Czech Republic. The party sits centre-right on the political spectrum, and holds 34 seats in the Chamber of Deputies, and is the second strongest party by number of seats following the 2021 election. It is the only political party in the Czech Republic that has maintained an uninterrupted representation in the Chamber of Deputies.

Tomio Okamura is a Czech far-right politician and entrepreneur. He founded the Czech political parties Dawn of Direct Democracy and Freedom and Direct Democracy (SPD). Since October 2013, he has been a member of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic (MP), initially for Dawn of Direct Democracy and then from May 2015 for SPD, of which he is also leader. He previously served as an independent Senator for Zlín district from October 2012 until his election to the Chamber of Deputies a year later.

Following the 2017 parliamentary elections, the country had been ruled by a minority government consisting of ANO 2011 (ANO), led by prime minister Andrej Babiš, and the Czech Social Democratic Party (ČSSD), led by interior minister Jan Hamáček, with confidence and supply support from the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia (KSČM) until April 2021. The largest opposition party was the Civic Democratic Party (ODS), followed by the Czech Pirate Party. Other parties in the Chamber of Deputies included SPD, TOP 09, STAN, and KDU-ČSL.
A Civic Democratic Party (ODS) leadership election was held on 13 January 2018. The incumbent leader Petr Fiala sought reelection. Shadow Minister of Education Václav Klaus Jr. was widely expected to run against Fiala. He was considered to be one of the most visible politician of the party. In December 2016, Czech bookmaker company Fortuna wrote a course for Klaus Jr. to replace Fiala on 20:1. Klaus Jr.. decided to not run against Fiala. Approximately 540 delegates were allowed to vote. Fiala received 451 votes and was elected for another term.
On 20 November 2017, the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic held an election for its president following that year's parliamentary election. Radek Vondráček of ANO 2011 won the election with the support of 135 deputies.
A by-election for the Trutnov Senate seat in the Czech Republic was held over two rounds in January 2018. The first round was held on 5 and 6 January 2018, with the second round on 12 and 13 January. The front-runners in the election were Jan Sobotka, supported by right-wing parties, and Jiří Hlavatý, the candidate of ANO 2011. Both of these candidates qualified for the second round held on 12 and 13 January 2018, which was won by Sobotka with 67% of votes.
Senate elections were held in the Czech Republic on 5 and 6 October 2018 alongside municipal elections, with a second round held on 12 and 13 October 2018. The Conservative Civic Democratic Party (ODS) won the election with 10 seats. Governing parties ANO 2011 and the Czech Social Democratic Party were heavily defeated, winning only 1 seat each. The Communist Party lost its last seat in the Senate when Václav Homolka failed to be re-elected, meaning the party would be without representation in the Senate for the first time in the history of Czech Republic. The election was considered the first major win for the opposition to Andrej Babiš' Cabinet. Commentators including Josef Kopecký also noted ODS confirmed their position as the main opposition party, ahead of the Czech Pirate Party.
