2024 South Asian U20 Athletics Championships

The 4th South Asian U20 Athletics Championships was held from 11 to 13 September 2024 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai. [1] 176 athletes competed in 30 events. [2] [3] India, the host, was the most successful nation, winning 21 gold medals. [4]

Afghanistan did not attend the event despite being a member of the South Asian Athletics Federation. [5]

The European Taekwondo Championships are the European senior championships in Taekwondo, first held in Barcelona in 1976. The event is held every two years and is organized by the European Taekwondo Union, the continental affiliate of World Taekwondo, which organises and controls Olympic style taekwondo. The European Swimming Masters Championships is an international Aquatics championships for adults. The championships are held biennially, with competition in all five of FINA's disciplines: swimming, diving, water polo, open water swimming, and synchronized swimming. Starting in 2016, the competition is held jointly with the European Aquatics Championships.

Athletics is one of the core sports on the programme for the Gymnasiade, an international multi-sport event organised by the International School Sport Federation (ISF). The 2016 Asian Junior Athletics Championships was the 17th edition of the international athletics competition for Asian under-20 athletes, organised by the Asian Athletics Association and the Vietnam Athletics Federation. Athletes born between 1997 and 2000 competed in 44 events, divided evenly between the sexes. The competition took place over four days from 3–6 June at Thống Nhất Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. A total of 45 countries entered athletes into the tournament, eighteen of which reached the medal table. The competition, including its opening and closing ceremonies, was broadcast live on Vietnamese carrier VTV6.

The Cerebral Palsy Games are a multi-sport competition for athletes with a disability, which under the former name of the International Stoke Mandeville Games were the forerunner of the Paralympic Games. The competition has been formerly known as the International Cerebral Palsy Games or the Stoke Mandeville Games. Since the 1990s the Games have been organized by Cerebral Palsy International Sports and Recreation Association (CPISRA), so they called also CPISRA World Games.

The World Trail Orienteering Championships were first held in 2004 and annually since them. The majority of the championships have been held in Europe, with 2005 the only exception to date.

The Balkan Masters Athletics Championships is an annual international athletics competition between masters athletes aged 35 and over from nations in the Balkans. It is typically held over two or three days in September. It features a full programme of track and field events, plus a half marathon. Organised by Balkan Masters Athletics, it was first held in 1991 and has been held every year since. The competition was the organisation's first regular championships, and was followed by a Balkan Masters Cross Country Championships in 2007 and a Balkan Masters Indoor Athletics Championships in 2015.

The 2024 World Athletics U20 Championships, also known colloquially by its former official title, the World Junior Championships, is an international athletics competition for athletes qualifying as juniors. The event is being staged in Lima, Peru from 27 to 31 August 2024. On 5 April 2023 it was announced that the city had initially withdrawn as a host of the 2024 World Athletics U20 Championships due to "recent political instability, social unrest and natural disasters". However on 14 August 2023, Lima was reinstated as host city for the event as all the issues were stabilised.
